2 held for drugs; P150-K marijuana plants burned

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad,
Benguet -- Two men are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or
Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were arrested in buy-bust
operations in Benguet and Mountain Province on Nov. 14 and 15.
Police reports to Cordillera police director bared Brig. Gen. Mafelino A. Bazar identified suspects as Larry Jay Atencio “Kulot” Moyano, 25 and Klemburg “Mokkong” Peyes Geronilla,” 41.
In Benguet, Moyano was arrested by elements of Benguet Police Provincial Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera after he sold a sachet of suspected “shabu” weighing around 0.2 grams worth P1,360.
In Mountain Province, suspect Geronilla was arrested by police, Regional Intelligence Division and PDEA after he sold two sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing around 1.3 grams valued at P8,840. Inventory of confiscated items was witnessed by representatives from the Dept. of Justice, media and barangay officials.
Meanwhile, in a separate anti-illegal drug operation in Benguet, operatives police burned 790 fully grown marijuana plants worth P158,000 planted in Pingew, Sagubo, Kapangan, and Sumanga of Barangay Kayapa, Bakun town.
All marijuana plants were uprooted and burned at site. No cultivator was apprehended during the operation.

SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan
-- A tricycle driver who was flagged down in a checkpoint under Oplan Sita for
inspection of motorcycle’s documents and driver’s license, was arrested for shabu
here in Barangay Balayong around 12 p.m. on Nov. 14.
Police identified the arrested trike driver as Ronnel Paragas, 32, a resident here of Barangay Bolingit.
The checkpoint investigator said the suspect, who was on board his tricycle, was flagged down by personnel of San Carlos City Philippine National Police for Oplan Sita inspection.
However, when he was asked to show his driver’s license and documents, Paragas was noticeably anxious.
As he opened his pouch to get his driver’s license, a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a suspected shabu incidentally fell from the license’s pouch.
The police personnel also confiscated his tricycle.
The confiscated shabu with an estimated weight of 0.14 grams was submitted to the Urdaneta City Forensic Unit, Urdaneta, Pangasinan for laboratory examination.
The tricycle driver is now facing a case in violation of Sec 11 of Republic Act 9165.
