7 nabbed in N. Ecija for drugs, murder, gambling

Police arrested seven lawbreakers in anti-crime operations in Nueva Ecija on Jan. 22.
    Col. Richard Caballero, acting Nueva Ecija police chief, said that two suspected drug pushers were arrested in buy-bust operations in the Science City of Muñoz and Santa Rosa City.
    A total of 0.35 grams of shabu valued at P2,380 were seized from the suspects.
    Two wanted persons were apprehended in manhunt operations in Cuyapo and San Jose City for frustrated murder and rape.
    Three individuals were nabbed for illegal gambling in Barangay Pinili, San Jose City. Seized from them were two sets of color game paraphernalia and bet money amounting to P5,655.
    Suspects are under the custody of arresting units and face appropriate charges.
    Police also recovered MK2 fragmentation hand grenade.

 
Cagayan village chief 
slain in daring ambush

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — A barangay captain in Piat town in Cagayan was shot dead on Monday night.  A police report identified the victim as Richard Biraquit, 57, chairman of Barangay Sto. Domingo.
 The victim and his wife were in a Toyota Fortuner on their way home when they were attacked.
Biraquit was declared dead on arrival in a hospital. His wife was unhurt.
Meanwhile, in Maguindanao del Sur, Benjie Maon, a teacher at the Mileb Elementary School in Radjah Buayan town, was killed in a gun attack in Sultan sa Barongis on Monday.
Police said Maon’s five-year-old son and seven-year-old nephew, who were with him when the shooting occurred in Sitio Nadal in Barangay Barurao, remained confined in a hospital yesterday.
Investigations into the killings are underway.


Trike driver hurt in road mishap in Nueva Vizcaya

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya – A driver was injured after the tricycle he was driving collided with a sports utility vehicle that happened to be owned and driven by Reynold Kimayong, Vice Mayor of Lagawe, Ifugao on Monday, Jan. 23.
According to the Bagabag Philippine National Police, the incident happened along the National Highway in barangay Pogonsino in Bagabag.
The police report said that the vice mayor’s car which was running toward the direction of Solano hit the back of the tricycle.
The tricycle driver identified as Alexis Bicera, a government employee and resident of barangay Vista Alegre, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, was injured in the accident.
Vice mayor Kimayong was unhurt, and so were Bicera’s passengers identified as Gladys Derilo, 22, four-year old Chairman Bicera and eight-month-old baby Chelsea Mae Bicera.
Bicera was brought to Regional Trauma and Medical Center 2.
        The two vehicles involved were impounded to determine the amount of damages.

Former cop wanted for murder arrested

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A former police officer wanted for double murder was arrested in Pulilan, Bulacan on Monday, Jan. 23.
    Police arrested the suspect, William Reed, 57, in Barangay Poblacion.
    He was listed as a most wanted person of the Department of Interior and Local Government on the national level with a P250,000 reward.
    No bail was recommended for the suspect.
    Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen, Police Regional Office 3 director, vowed no let-up in the manhunt for wanted persons.
    “The intelligence build-up effort and campaign against wanted persons include police scalawags who deserve to be put behind bars for their crimes,” he added.

Housewife busted for marijuana oil in Nueva Vizcaya

BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya – A 31 year-old housewife yielded 120 milliliters of marijuana oil valued at P7,200 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banggot here on Wednesday, Jan. 25.The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency identified suspect as Annie Innad of Barangay Macalong, Kasibu.
    Innad yielded a plastic bag containing two medicine bottles with 120 milliliters of marijuana oil valued at P7,200, buy-bust money, and blue cellular phone.
    A case for violation of Section 5 (Sale) of Article II of Republic Act 9165 is being prepared against the suspect.

 
5th suspect in murder of 2 anti-drug cops in Pampanga shot dead

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – The leader of the Flores Group and the fifth suspect in the murder of two anti-drug policemen of the Mabalacat City, Pampanga police last Dec. 3 was killed in a shootout in Sitio Dungan, Barangay Tabun, Mabalacat City, on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen identified the suspect as Kenneth Flores.

Investigation said police served a warrant of arrest against Flores for double murder but he attempted to escape.

The suspect drew a gun and fired at lawmen who retaliated and hit Flores. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Recovered from the scene were a caliber .45 pistol and a hand grenade.

Pasiwen said justice has been served to the two policemen – Staff Master Sgt. Sofronio Capitle Jr. and Staff Sgt. Dominador Gacusa Jr. – with the death of Flores.
