BAGUIO CITY -- The City Tourism Office is eying more systematic scheduling of buskers in the weekly Sunday Session Road Showcase. “This is in line with our continuous effort to promote a more enjoyable experience during the Sunday Session Road Showcase,” the office headed by City Tourism Officer Aloysius Mapalo said.
The office notified buskers based in the city including those from the La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, Tublay (LISTT) area to accomplish a form (https://forms.gle/gM27mjtE3kz4F2de7).
The forms will “serve as basis for us to systematize the scheduling and placement of each performer,” the office said.
Mapalo said there are approximately 300 buskers in the city taking turns to perform at the showcase.
Scheduling is presently being done but needs to be enhanced to guard against “gatecrashers” or buskers that perform sans proper authorization.
Mapalo said improving the busking activity is part of the holistic program to improve the Session Road showcase which will now feature diverse activities aligned with the event or theme that the city is observing for the month.
He said the activity will henceforth be dedicated to promoting pedestrianization or walkability along the famous thoroughfare as well as creative endeavors with limited if not zero selling activities.
