TABUK CITY -- The provincial government of Kalinga has formally adopted Vice President Sara Z. Duterte as a “Lumingay” during the celebration of its 28th Founding Anniversary at Tabuk City in Kalinga.
The provincial government of Kalinga said that the Kalinga name “Lumingay” means “lovable, strong, supportive wife of a tribal leader.”
Duterte, who visited Kalinga Province for the first time as guest of honor and speaker, was adopted by virtue of Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution 2023-034.

The province is at the same time holding its 4th “Bodong Festival” which started on Feb. 5 and ended Feb. 17.
The term “Bodong” means a peace pact between two tribes in order to avert hostilities and maintain peace and harmony. The peace pact is being practiced by the different subtribes of Kalinga, Mountain Province and Abra and even Apayao.
During her speech, the Vice President has urged the public to fight against insurgency and drug addiction that continue to ruin the lives of the Filipino youth.
“I enjoin you to fight against insurgency and drug addiction that continue to endanger the life and future of our Filipino youth. Let us stand guard against the recruitment of our highly impressionable youth by keeping them in school,” Duterte said.
