NPA arms cache found in Bontoc

Province --- An arms cache of the New People’s Army was discovered here Jan.
30.
Acting immediately on intelligence report, joint forces of the Police Regional Office Cordillera and troops of the Philippine Army raided the area here at Barangay Mainit.
Reports to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Mafelino A. Bazar said police and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 together with the troops of the Philippine Army launched the operation that resulted in discovery of arms cache hidden in mountainous area.
Seized were an improvised explosive device an M16 barrel, two maps, 51 cartridges, M 16 selector, bolt and forward assist, bolt cam pins M16 magazine and hand guard.
The lawmen also seized clothes, medical supplies and personal belongings believed owned by NPA guerillas.
The items were brought to the 1502nd Maneuver Company of RMFB15 in Tadian town for disposition.
Troops are now searching adjacent areas for explosive devices and NPA guerillas.
