Fugitive found hiding 9 years hiding in Kalinga

RIZAL, Kalinga – Police arrested here Aug. 7 a fugitive who bolted the Cabarroguis, Quirino District Jail and hid in a remote barangay for nine years.
    Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig.  Gen. David K. Peredo Jr. identified the escapee as Remynad Santos Cabe, 38, of Diffun, Quirino, who faces carnapping and robbery charges.
    Maj. Shameral Banag, Rizal chief of police, said they received information from a concerned citizen that an inmate had been living in the area for years.
    The Rizal Municipal Police Station immediately coordinated with the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology-Region 2, Diffun police and Cabarroguis District Jail, and RTC Second Judicial Region, Branch 32, Quirino to arrest the suspect.
    Banag said Cabe was apprehended through a memorandum from Jail Senior Supt. Amelia Rayandayan, BJMP-Region 2, through Peter Irving Corvera, Interior Undersecretary for Public Safety, stating that he was among four detainees at Cabarroguis District Jail who escaped on Sept. 13, 2014.
Banag said after confirming the identity of the suspect, they immediately coordinated with barangay officials, and together with the BJMP-Region 2, arrested Cabe at 4:20 p.m.
Arresting units included joint operatives of Kalinga Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Region II Special Tactics and Response Team.
They immediately conducted an entrapment operation after receiving information through the iReport Mo Kay Tsip SMS hotline of the PNP that an escapee was hiding at the said place of arrest.
After documentation, suspect Cabe was turned over by Rizal police to the BJMPRO-II Star Team for proper disposition.
