Number coding tops Baguio City traffic violations

BAGUIO CITY – Violation of number coding scheme under city ordinance 2003 topped vehicle traffic violations here this year.
Records from the Baguio City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit under Maj. Zacarias Dausen showed a total of 15,679 number coding apprehensions conducted by the traffic division, ten stations and other units of the BCPO from January 1 to July 21, 2023.
Obstruction came in second with 10,874 apprehensions followed by illegal parking with 9,127.
Other were violations of traffic police instructions with 5,671 apprehensions; disregarding traffic signs, 5,240; motorcycle ban, 1,563; reckless driving, 870; driving without license, 790; failure to use seatbelt, 713; and truck ban, 621.
The total traffic violations committed was 54,543.
In the data from January 1 to July 17, 2023, the TEU reported collecting a total of P18, 893, 830 from the 53,253 apprehensions conducted during the said period.
Dausen said the amount of collection was based on the clearances issued by the TEU and did not cover those who paid their violation at the City Treasury Office and failed to get clearance from them.
