2 die in Ilocos road crashes

VIGAN, Ilocos Sur — A man and a woman died in separate vehicular accidents involving motorcycles in Ilocos Sur on night of Sept. 24.
Ellaine Mae Pastor, 28, died instantly after her motorcycle crashed into the concrete fence of a covered court in Barangay Bayubay Sur, San Vicente town.
    Pastor, who was reportedly drunk, lost control of the wheel as she was traveling along the highway, according to Capt. Pedro Halover, chief of the San Vicente police.
    Meanwhile, Leumark Abumiawan, 30, died after his motorcycle slammed into a power post in Barangay Dan-ar, Santiago town.
    Abumiawan was declared dead on arrival at the Candon General Hospital in Candon City. Witnesses said Abumiawan was speeding.
    The victim was reportedly drunk, according to Maj. Henry Garcia, chief of the Santiago police.
    Probers said that both Pastor and Abumiawan were not wearing helmets.
