BONTOC, Mountain Province – Top officials of this town and province attended a simple, yet meaningful and joyful celebration of public and private school teachers in this municipality who gathered at Bontoc Central School Sept. 29, in celebration of National Teachers’ Day.
Mountain Province Rep. Maximo Dalog, Jr., Bontoc Schools District supervisor, school heads, principals, students from public and private schools joined the event.
Students from different schools entertained the teachers with songs and dances during the occasion.
Speaking before some 100 teachers, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., cited teachers for their hardship and sacrifices they do to effectively educate learners.
“Please know that we recognize your dedication, most likely whatever accomplishments your students have, you are part of it. And this should be a reminder to appreciate yourself even when no one else does. Pat yourself on the back, if no one else would. In the end, the greatest reward will be when your students succeed and come back to thank you for all you have done,” Tudlong said.
An educator himself who had been a part-time instructor at the Mountain Province State College (MPSPC), the mayor said, education is part of his top priorities under his administration.
Tudlong said in support to the education sector, the Bontoc local government allocates funds for financial assistance of all public schools.
These include funds for Brigada Eskwela, Youth Leadership Summit and Municipal Student Financial Assistance Program.
Meanwhile, Mountain Province Schools Division Superintendent Benilda Daytaca commended teachers for their commitment in delivering quality education to learners.
