SANTA BARBARA, Pangasinan -- Officials of the Daniel Maramba National High School (DMNHS) here sent their students home Monday, Nov. 6, after a message sent to the school's social media page warned bombs have been planted inside the school building.
"!!!!!Mag ingat kayong lahat danielistas dahil may nilagay kaming bomba sa loob ng daniel lahat ng room ay puwede sumabog isa isa kahit saan niyo hanapin yang bomba di nyo iyan makikita 7:00-7:30 ng umaga pwede yan sumabog ingat (Be warned Danielistas. We placed bombs in all the rooms in the school. No matter how hard you try to find them, you can't locate them. They will set off 7:00-7:30 in the morning)," the message read.
The message was posted by one Eric Dump.
Danny Agustin, DMNHS principal, said that he was informed about the message at around 7:15 a.m. while they were having a flag-raising ceremony.
After the activity, he said, he ordered all the students to go home and reported the bomb threat to the police.
The school, which has about 200 classrooms, has more than 4,000 students. Faculty members and other school personnel were then herded at the school's covered court for safety.
"We take these threats seriously," said police chief Col. Jun Wacnag.
He said after he received the call, he immediately called the Provincial Police Office's Explosive Ordnance Disposal in Lingayen town to locate the bomb.
But after two hours of searching, from 9-11 a.m., no bomb was found.
At 11:15 a.m., police declared the school clear of explosives.
Agustin, said although face-to-face classes have been canceled on Monday, students took modular distance learning mode for the whole day.
Wacnag said that since no bombs were found, they will now shift their effort in finding who posted the bomb threat.
"To the one who posted that bomb threat, we will find you. And even if it was just a joke, we can file a criminal case against you," said Wacnag.
