City mourns death of former Gabriela Silang barangay chief Maskay

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed city council resolution no. 591, series of 2023, expressing the city’s deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the late Mabini ‘Benny’ Chaloping Maskay, former punong barangay of Gabriela Silang, who passed away on Sept. 15 at age 66.
    The resolution stated that Maskay served as Gabriela Silang’s punong barangay from 1989 to 2007 and 2010 to 2013, including as a Board of Director of the Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) for three terms.
    “During his tenure, Maskay made significant and invaluable contributions to the development and progress of Gabriela     Silang barangay and to Baguio city. His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment greatly enhanced the welfare and well-being of the constituents leaving an indelible mark on the community,” it added.
    The resolution pointed out that Maskay actively participated in various programs and activities organized by Gabriela Silang barangay and the city government, “showcasing his commitment to public service which deserves the utmost appreciation and recognition.”-Gaby B. Keith
