P5.22M marijuana uprooted in Kalinga
TINGLAYAN, Kalinga -- Marijuana plants worth around PP5.22 million were uprooted and burned on site during a two-day anti-drug operation here at Barangay Loccong, last week.
Police said the marijuana plants were found in two different cultivation sites.
The anti-drug operating units were composed of agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement-Cordillera, Special Operations Unit of the Regional Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group of the Police Regional Office, Regional Mobile Group, Kalinga Police Provincial Office and Tinglayan police
This month, PDEA-Cordillera endorsed to its national office and to the Dangerous Drugs Board two requests for financial assistance for programs or projects that will serve as alternatives or deterrents to marijuana cultivation.
The proposals were initiated by the Sangguniang Pambarangays of Saclit, Sadanga, Mountain Province and Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
