2 men slain in Ilocos due to land dispute

LAOAG CITY — Due to an alleged land dispute, two brothers reportedly killed two of their cousins and wounded another during a quarrel April 25 in Barangay Sto. Tomas, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, lawmen said.

Senior Insp. Dominic Guerrero, Sarrat police chief, said the suspects identified as Ciriaco Castillo Jr. and his brother Gilbert Castillo were arrested shortly after the killing.

Reports said the suspects were armed with Cal. 38 revolver and kitchen knife when they attacked the victims identified as Marciano Castillo, 38, Ronald Castillo, 40, and Elmer Castillo, all residents of Sto. Tomas.

The Castillos had just arrived home from a birthday party when the violence occurred.
Marciano, a barangay tanod, was shot in the chest and abdomen, while Ronald was stabbed in the chest and neck.

Both died in the hospital. Elmer suffered a minor stab wound.
