CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Mayor Oscar “Oca” Rodriguez has ordered the removal of all streamers expressing support to Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Rodriguez instructed City Administrator Ferdinand Caylao to lead teams in removing all pro-Aquino streamers in the city proper, along busy streets and MacArthur Highway here.

The city mayor said the streamers have no permits and are placed in unauthorized areas.

The pro-Noynoy streamers have been displayed in various parts of the city and other parts of Pampanga and some parts in the Central Luzon since Aquino declared his bid for the presidency in 2010.

“We would like to clarify that we are not just removing the Sen. Noynoy streamers alone but also all streamers and posters without permits from the City Hall.

Streamers that are also placed unscrupulously pose dangers to motorists and pedestrians,” Caylao told local media.

Caylao said the city government here led by Mayor Rodriguez had coordinated with the office of Senator Aquino and his supporters in Pampanga about the removal of the streamers.

The city government later found out that the streamers did not come from the Aquino camp or any of its local supporters, Caylao added.

Asked why the city government took several weeks to realize that the pro-Noynoy streamers had no permits, Caylao said local officials were busy in helping victims of calamities here and in other areas.

He said the streamers and posters should only be placed in authorized locations, adding that even posters of local politicians here would be removed, even if they have permits, if they are placed in the wrong place.
