Cops chase, arrest man with P880,00 marijuana

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Police chased a 25-year-old man here after he got off a bus from Kalingaand found him in possession of 16 marijuana bricks worth P880,000.
A police report identified alleged illegal drug pusher as Domingo “Agpad” AgyaoMacadof Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga who was arrested Nov. 27 by joint elements of Regional Public Safety Battalion, Bontoc and regional police.
Based on the investigation, PO1 Davis Falolo, a RPSB member was on board a Bing- Bush Bus plying Bontoc-Tabuk, route when upon reaching Botbot, Tinglayan, Kalinga, he smelled marijuana from the bag and carton owned by the suspect who was seated near the police officer.
Upon reaching Caluttit, Bontoc, Mt. Province, the suspect got off the bus and rode a tricycle with PO1 Falolo following him and riding the same tricycle.
When they reached rotunda at the Poblacion, Falolo asked permission from the suspect if he could check his luggage to which the latter agreed.
In the process of inspection, the suspect suddenly ran away. Falolo immediately sought the assistance of police assigned at their rotunda outpost.
The police quickly chased the suspect who was arrested along the road fronting Sta. Rita Church, at the Poblacion.
The suspect with his luggage was brought to Bontoc Municipal Police Station where bag and carton was opened in the presence of the suspect’s counsel, Alsannyster Patingan, prosecutor Golda Bagawi, barangay chairman Erlinda Bucaycay and media representative Gregorio Taguiba.
The suspect’s hand-woven bag yielded six bricks of marijuana while the carton contained 11 bricks of the illegal drug, both weighing 16 kilos.
Macad and the pieces of evidence were put under custody of Bontoc Municipal Police Station while charges were prepared against the suspect in court.
