P8-M MJ uprooted in Kalinga plantation

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga -- Police uprooted and destroyed around 40,000 fully-grown marijuana plants valued at 8,000,000 here at Apongor, Lucong on April 9.

Senior Supt. Froilan de Guzman Perez, provincial police chief, in a report said the marijuana plants were located on a one- hectare plantation.

Perez said the operation was coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and carried out with the cooperation of Lucong barangay officials headed by village chief SagnayaoPaclay with 25 civilian volunteers.

Samples of uprooted MJ plants were brought to the provincial police office as evidence.

No cultivators were arrested during the operation.

Operating troops came from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office led by Senior Insp. Elmo W Aspilan, Kalinga Public Safety Company led by Insp. Lee Alvin Alinao, Provincial Police Intelligence Branch led by Chief Insp. Joseph P Bayongasan and Tinglayan police station led by Insp. Edward Liclic with overall supervision of Supt. Reynaldo D. Pasiwen, deputy provincial director for operations.
