Robredo appoints Farinas as Region 2 RPOC chair

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La union-- Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Jesse Robredo has appointed Mayor Michael V. Farinas of Laoag City as chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council of the Ilocos-Pangasinan Region, vice Pangasinan Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr.

During the RPOC meeting held at the Philippine National Police regional headquarters here, Robredo also named Chief Supt. Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, Ilocos police director as RPOC1 vice-chairperson.

Bucayu, during the meeting acknowledged the presence of FariƱas; Brigadier Gen. Alan R. Luga, commander of the 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army; police provincial directors of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte and other heads and representatives of the council’s member-agencies.

He thanked them for their contribution in bringing about the realization of Region 1’s objectives pertaining to peace and order.

The meeting included presentations on the regional peace and order situation, anti-criminality campaign, and internal security operations.

Also presented were updates on the memorandum of agreement on reduction of vehicular accidents, and the search for model PNP families.

Bucayu awarded a plaque of appreciation to Espino, outgoing RPOC1 chairperson and certificates of appreciation to the resource speakers, shortly before adjourning the meeting.
