CIDG nabs carnapper; recovers stolen vehicle

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet- A suspected carnapper who allegedly stole at gunpoint a vehicle in Pampanga was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in an operation in this town.

CIDG chief director Samuel D. Pagdilao, Jr., said joint elements of his men, La Trinidad police and regional highway patrol unit retrieved a stolen Toyota Innova with plate number TII-609 in this capital town from the suspect driving the stolen vehicle.Citing reports by his men, Pagdilao said local police spotted the vehicle inside a compound in Barangay Balili, here prompted law enforcers to conduct an operation and chanced upon Jake Leung Cosente driving the vehicle along Balili Road.

 The suspect presented a certificate of registration and a deed of sale for the vehicle after he was questioned by the operatives.

But when told of the status of the vehicle, Cosente voluntarily surrendered the car to authorities.

The CIDG placed the vehicle under nationwide alarm after it was reported stolen at gunpoint in Lubao, Pampanga on Feb. 27.

The vehicle was registered under owner Virginia T. Goyagoy, a resident of Sta. Cruz, Quezon City.

The operation to retrieve the vehicle was led by Police Chief Insp. Eugene Rebadomia, SPO1 Eddie Ballog and Senior Insp. Fernando Oydoc.
