3 cops face dismissal for illegal logging

BANGUED, Abra -- Three cops here are facing summary dismissal proceedings for grave misconduct for alleged violation of Presidential Decree 705, the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.

               

The three policemen were identified as: SPO1 Jerome Nelson, PO2 Gener Ortega and PO1 FrederickTalingdan. 

               

Investigation disclosed Nelson and Ortega were directly engaged in illegal logging while Talingdan was identified unloading narra lumber at Campol furniture shop located here in Barangay  Bangbangar.

               

Recently, Cordillera regional police director Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong ordered all provincial directors and chiefs of police to intensify their campaign against illegal logging.

               

Magalong said he will not hesitate to punish any policeman involved in illegal activities without prejudice to the strict observance of administrative due process.
