Bontoc dads set funds for disaster victims

BONTOC, Mt. Province -- The Sangguniang Bayan here passed an ordinance providing  relief and rehabilitation assistance to victims of man-made and natural disasters.
           
The  SB, presided by vice mayor Willam Aspilan, said even as  the town  embarked on various precautionary measures to ensure preparedness in times of disasters and calamities, still the municipality is prone to  disasters.
           
Municipal Ordinance 171, s. 2012  provides  that for relief assistance, a maximum of P5,000 shall be given per beneficiary as assistance in crisis situation and  a maximum of P10,000  per victim as financial assistance to bereaved family member.
           
In case a victim is missing, the family shall be given P2,000.00 per day for three days.
           
If still missing on the fifth day, the family shall be given the balance to complete the amount of P10,000.00.        
For this purpose, an investigation by proper authorities shall be part of the procedure.
           
It is also provided in the ordinance that a victim who is injured shall be given a maximum assistance of P5,000.   

For a rescuer who is a government official/employee or a volunteer who dies in the performance of or involved in rescue and disaster related operation, he will be given P15,000.
           
For rehabilitation assistance, an emergency shelter assistance of P20,000 per family shall be given to those whose houses are totally damaged; P10,000 for partially damaged houses; and P8,000 for damaged farm houses/shanties/cottages.
           
Supplemental feeding of P20 per child per day for 10 days shall also be given.
           
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Municipal Risk Reduction Disaster Coordinating Council (MRRDCC), and the Bontoc Emergency Response Team (BERT) were designated to formulate guidelines for implementation of this ordinance.
           
Funds to be used in the implementation of this ordinance shall be sourced from the Calamity Fund in the amount of P700,000 annually.
           
If only part of the allotted amount was spent, only the spent portion shall be replenished in the next budget year.
           
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Mt. Province  has approved said ordinance.
