New PNP director vows to end gambling in Ifugao

LAGAWE, Ifugao—The new Ifugao provincial police director has vowed
to stop to all forms of gambling in towns.
In a radio interview in the daily program “Humangan with PIA,”
Sup. Ramil Saculles, said, “We are
mandated by law and our office does not
to allow illegal activities including gambling to proliferate in our area of
responsibility,”.
He said his first order to the 11 municipal police stations in the
province was to monitor and put an end to
illegal gambling, which the provincial board earlier noted in three major towns of Lagawe, Lamut and
Kiangan.
He called urged local officials and the public to cooperate with
authorities to stop gambling which
Saculles noted as the cause of crimes
such as theft.
“People tend to steal in order to have money to gamble,” he said.
Saculles urged organizations such as women’s groups to be active
in the crusade. “People tend to give respect to this sector because if women
talk people listen,” he said.
Prior to his assignment here, Saculles, 43, had been assigned in
different Cordillera provinces such as Abra,
Benguet, Kalinga and at the
Cordillera Regional Police
Office.
