DPWH finishes 10 DA-funded projects in Mountain Province

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Ten infrastructure projects of the
provincial district engineering office under the farm to market road
development program have been finished and being utilized by farmers to
transfer their products to markets while two others are still being
constructed.
The projects are funded by the Department of Agriculture for calendar
year 2011, said engineer Benedict F. Matib, construction chief of the
provincial Department of Public Works and Highways.
In the report to the regional DPWH office, Matibsaid thousands of farmers are expected to benefit
when 12 FMR projects in six towns of the province are completed even as
hundreds of jobs have been generated during implementation.
“These projects were done
expeditiously to take chance of the good weather during the preceding months
which is also in support to Secretary Rogelio Singson’s commitment to fasttrack
infrastructure projects within the department’s jurisdiction,” he said.
Meanwhile, millions worth of FMR projects under the same program
and funded under CY 2012 DA fund are set to be implemented again by thr
district engineering office in Barlig (Lias FMR), Paracelis
(Wala-Bunot-Paracelis and Cassag-Makilo FMRs) and Tadian
(Guinzadan-Cagubatan-Dacudac FMR),” OIC assistant district engineer Charles
Sokoken said.
“These projects will aide
agricultural development of the identified beneficiaries and economic growth of
these municipalities”, OIC district rngineer John Marquez said.
As it is, this road projects are ways of the Public Highways and
the DA to aide in an efficient farming and trading system and in the
alleviation of poverty.
