CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The
provincial governor on Wednesday ordered all hospital officials in all district
hospitals in the province to treat leptospirosis patients free of charge.
This developed after Gov. Lilia G. Pineda
visited flood-affected families in the fourth district of the province,
especially the six villages of Masantol, that up to this time reportedly remain
submerged in floodwater.
The governor also learned that the cases of
leptospirosis cases in the province are reportedly rising in communities,
particularly the villages still underwater.
Records from the Center for Health
Development in Region 3 showed that Pampanga is the second highest with 15
cases of leptospirosis, next to Bulacan with 35 cases, followed by Bataan with
10, Nueva Ecija with 9, and Tarlac with 6.
Pineda said there was enough supply of
medicine or doxycycline capsules to be given to the flood-affected residents
mostly in the Fourth District of the province.
