Four more wanted persons arrested in Benguet, Abra

CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Four wanted persons, including a barangay captain, were successively arrested by law enforcers who were tasked to serve their respective warrants of arrest over the past several days in Benguet and Abra.

An incumbent barangay captain was apprehended for falsification of public document by Mankayan police station on Nov. 21 at Poblacion of the town.

Armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Jonathan Segundo of the Municipal Trial Court of Mankayan, police on Nov. 20 arrested Padawi Totanes Ambino, 45 of Barangay Colalo.

On the same day, a 22-year old farmer was also arrested for illegal possession of firearms by members of the Villaviciosa municipal station along the provincial road at SitioOl-olingen, Barangay Lap-lapog, Villaviciosa, Abra.

Insp. Alan Jericho Ruiz Cuyopan, chief of police, who led the team identified the suspect as John Cantero Christian Vergara alias “Japot”, a resident of Barangay Lap-lapog, Villaviciosa.

Prior to the arrest, a barangay tanod of Barangay Poblacion, Villaviciosa, reported to the police the suspect was having in his possession a firearm while having a drinking spree and later left the place on board a motorcycle heading towards Barangay Lap-lapog, Villaviciosa.

The responding policemen chased the suspect that led to the recovery of one word cup Cal. 45 (Danao made) with serial number 1680045 with a magazine loaded with six bullets.

Vergara was later brought to the Villaviciosa municipal police station which a case is now being readied for filing at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Bangued, Abra against him.

In another separate operation of the same day, a 25-year old pocket miner was arrested by La Trinidad police for robbery.

The team led by SPO2 Florante Dugayen identified the suspect as Ronnie Liwayan Casigan, of  Tapapan, Bauko, Mountain Province now residing at km 5, Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet.

He was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Nida B Alejandro of the Regional Trial Court in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur with a recommended bail bond of P40,000.

Casigan was detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Another person was also arrested by members of the Baay-Licuan municipal police station on Nov. 22, at Barangay Cawayan, Baay-Licuan, Abra for murder.

The team led by local chief of police, Insp. Allan Benjamin De Leon armed with warrant issued by Judge Raphiel Alzate of the Regional Trial Court, Bangued, Abra,  arrested Marcos Wacquisan Barona, 77 of Barangay Cawayan, Baay-Licuan, Abra.

No bail was recommended by the court.
