MP-TESDA sets 140 scholarship slots

SABANGAN, Mountain Province -- The Technical
Education, Skills and Development Authority has allotted the Provincial
Training Center here with 140 slots under the Training for Work Scholarship
Program (TWSP) which will be conducted this last quarter until next year.
Engineer Glenn Murphy, TESDA provincial
training administrator said of the total slots, 48 were allotted for automotive
servicing, and 46 for electrical installation maintenance and shielded metal
arc welding.
Murphy said slots for each category will be
conducted in two batches.
One batch of the 46 slots for EIM will be
conducted in the municipality of Paracelis while the other batch will be
conducted in Natonin.
Trainings for the automotive servicing and
SMAW will be conducted at the PTC.
Under this program, aside from free
trainings, beneficiaries are also entitled to undergo free competency
assessment after they have completed number of training hours.
TESDA has also allotted 180 slots of TWSP to
Meridian Paramedical and Technical College in Bontoc.
According to Melita Pinic of TESDA provincial
office, 100 of the total slots are allotted for commercial cooking and 80 for housekeeping.
Pinic said acceptance of application is
ongoing at MPTC.
Qualified to avail of the program are high
school graduates, must be at least 18 years old and must not have availed of
the TWSP from 2010 to present.
Given priority are the unemployed and or job
ready.
Applicants are required to submit barangay
and police clearance, medical certificate, youth profiling for starting career
(YP4SC) or national career assessment examination (NCAE), duly accomplished
TWSP form, one copy of 2” x 2” ID
picture, and two copies 1” x 1” ID
picture.
