University status of Kalinga, Mt Province colleges pushed

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Aurora
Rep. Jose Edgardo Angara, House chairman
on higher and technical education, has
assured support for passage of bills converting two colleges in the Cordillera
into universities during a recent visit here.
House Bill 3538 or an act converting the Kalinga Apayao
State College into Kalinga State University with campuses at Bulanao and
Dagupan of Tabuk City authored by Kalinga Congressman Manuel Agyao, was approved by the Lower House and received
by the Senate on June 8, 2011.
The other bill, HB No. 2691 or
act converting the Mountain Province
State Polytechnic College with campuses located in the municipalities of Bontoc, Tadian, Bauko, Paracelis and
Barlig into the Mt. Province State University was
authored by Rep. Maximo Dalog of Mt. Province.
Based on the House of Representatives
website, the HB Angara co-authored was approved by the committee on
appropriations and which filed its report for House approval on March 23, 2011.
