‘X’mas tree fund reports not true’

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan said reports that the bulk of the city government’s yuletide fund is intended for a Christmas tree here were not accurate.

“That’s not true, we are working on a limited budget for this year and we have allocated P1 million for the Christmas celebrations,” he said.

Domogan added the reported P600,000 was not intended for the Christmas tree alone but for the entire Christmas lights and decorations which will be placed in strategic locations in the city.

“Being the most visited place for its cool climate especially during the yuletide season, it is also fitting that we decorate our city so everyone can feel the spirit of the season,” Domogan said. “The lights and decorations purchased during the previous season will also be re-used to save on expenses.”

Meantime, a giant Christmas tree adorned with lights is now being constructed atop Session Road Rotunda. – Paul Rillorta
