Power supply to Ecija electric co-op cut off

PANTABANGAN, Nueva Ecija – Electricity in parts of this province was cut Tuesday by the First Gen Hydro Power Corp. (FGHPC), which owns and operates the Pantabangan-Masiway hydroelectric complex and supplies power to the Pantabangan Municipal Electric Services (PAMES).
The electric cooperative (PAMES) is owned by the Pantabangan municipal government.
The FGHPC said it was constrained to take such measure after PAMES again failed to keep its account current.
Unpaid power bills from July 2012 to December 2012 now amount to P8,762,405.58.
“We trust that the residents of Pantabangan will understand our decision. We are, in the meantime, exploring various options as to how we can assist in providing temporary electrical supply to critical institutions, such as the public schools in Pantabangan,” the FGHPC said in a statement.
