Naugsan eludes arrest in Sagada town lodge

SAGADA,
Mountain Province – A top officer of the communist movement in northern Luzon eluded arrest in a lodge here
at sitio Mabbay when police surrounded the establishment around 4:30 p.m. on
Sept. 9.
Police set the operation to capture Simon
“Filiw” Naugsan but apparently, the old hand knew how to get out of the fix and
disappeared in the mountains.
Naugsan is spokesperson of the
Cordillera People’s Democratic Front and reportedly a key officer of the New
People’s Army-Communist Party of the Philippines and also secretary of the
Kilusang Laranang Guerilla Marco Group.
Police said Naugsan’s purported
three companions, all with fictitious names bearing several IDs, were invited
for investigation.
Found in the room were subversive documents,
a cellular phone, flash drive, and cash amounting to P150,000.
Nobody was injured during in the operation
led by Senior Supt. Ulysses J. Abellera.
Over
the years, the tourist town of Sagada had been known as a haven for “people who
wanted to escape something or find something,” according to locals.
It was here where a Nazi war criminal, a
certain Dr. Irving, reportedly stayed in the 70s but mysteriously disappeared
after he was abducted by Israeli agents who had been hunting him over the years
for being part of the World War 2 genocide which exterminated millions of Jews
in Europe.
Artists, musicians and celebrities, even
those from Hollywood have reportedly often hied off in this rustic town known
for its cool, romantic weather. -- AD
