PNPA applications for Nov. 10 admission test on
BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) is accepting applications for the PNPA Cadet Admission Test (PNPACAT) on Nov. 10 at its 25 testing centers nationwide.
           
Young men and women who would like to pursue a career in public safety service may avail of the four-year full scholarship cadetship program being offered by the PNPA.
            
Applicants must be natural-born Filipino citizens; 18 years old and not more than 22 years on the date of appointment; single with no parental and financial obligation; high school graduate upon application; at least 5 feet 4 inches height for males and 5 feet 2 inches for females; with weight corresponding to the applicant’s height, gender and age and not exceed or be lower that 11 pounds or five kilograms of the standard weight; physically and mentally fit for cadetship training and must pass the minimum required physical fitness exercises; with good moral character; no pending complaint and/or case before any tribunal; not a formal cadet of the PNPA or other similar institutions; not have been dismissed from any private employment or government position for cause; and must pass the PNPACAT, medical, neuro-psychiatric and agility test and interview.
            
High school valedictorians and salutatorians and college cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude are exempt from taking the PNPACT.
            
Application forms can be downloaded at www.pnpa.edu.ph.   Duly accomplished application forms together with a self-stamped window envelope may be submitted to the Office of the Registrar or mail to: The Director, (Attention: Registrar), Philippine National Police Academy, Camp General Mariano N. Castaneda, Silang, Cavite 4129.

Eight men nabbed for shabu in Tabuk
TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Eight persons were arrested in a house here August 23 for illegal drugs.
            
The suspects were identified as Allan Versoza,  Jay Simafranca, 37; Ulderico Villamor, 47; Reynante Padrigo, 28; Val Trinidad,39; Arnold Awingan, 26; Richard Diego, 42 and Orlando Bakiadan, 43.
         
A police report said they received information from a concerned citizen that a drug transaction by  Versoza will be conducted evening of August 23 at the residence of a certain Jay Simafranca Balacang.

Police conducted surveillance which led to the raid at Simafranca’s house around 7 p.m. The raid was led by Chief Insp. Bobby Flenn Ganipac. Seized from Versoza were shabu valued at  P828,  Cal. 45 pistol with six bullets, cash of P2,880, two cellphones and bullets.

Yemeni, Arabian nationals rumble; 2 hurt
BAGUIO CITY- Two Yemeni nationals were hurt Sunday morning when their fellow Yemeni and an Arabian national ganged up on them because reportedly of an unpaid debt in Legarda road, this city.

Wounded in the brawl were Khaled Ahmed Shaibi, 29 and Feras Omar Banuqaytah, 19, both Yemeni nationals and students at St. Louis University.
            
The suspects are Mushel Morshid, Mohammed Al-Olibi, both Yemeni and Mohammad HamoodQaidNaji, a Saudi Arabian nationals.

The three suspects are studying here at Brent School. Investigation conducted by police disclosed that victims were then eating breakfast at MC Donalds located at Yandoc St., when Khaled went out to buy cigarette to a nearby store.

At this juncture, the suspects followed him along Legarda Road, where he was asked by the suspects to pay his unpaid debt.

The victim, however, insisted that he had nothing to pay.

Suddenly, the suspects mauled the victim, hitting his head with a stone.

Feras Omar Banuqaytah, upon noticing the commotion, tried to pacify them but he was also mauled by the suspects resulting in scratches on his face. 

Suspects then uttered threatening words to quote, “We will comeback for you to kill you later” then boarded on a taxi and fled to unknown direction.      

Police arrested the suspects who are now detained at the Baguio City Jail.


8 persons arrested in Cordillera for crimes
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet  -A private armed group member (PAG) surrendered while a wanted person and six others were arrested  last week.

Police identified the surrenderee as Ricky Ayaba Latawan , 35, of Barangay Alaoa, Tineg.

Latawan had been charged with multiple murder but the cases filed against him were dismissed by Judge Corpus Alzate, of the Regional Trial Court in Bangued, Abra.

Latawan surrendered aCal.30 M1 carbine rifle to Abra provincial police director Senior Supt. Benjamin M. Lusad.

Abra police, with the assistance of Vice Mayor Edwin Crisologo of Tineg, initiated negotiations that led to surrender of Latawan.

Meanwhile, Baguio City police, in coordination with the Tuba, Benguet police arrested the No. 2 top most wanted person (TMWP) at Poblacion, Tuba.

Senior Supt. Jesus Cambay, city director, identified the suspect as Narciso Miguel Adarogalias “Jun,” 52, farmer and a resident of San Pascual, Tuba,

He was charged for robbery with intimidation with bail set at P200,000 and estafaalso with bail of P40,000.

One Edwin Garcia Ramirez aka “Damyan,” 43, construction foreman and a resident of Purok 2, Lower Pinget, Baguio City was also arrested at the Baguio City Justice Hall for attempted murder, with bail set at  P100,000.

A certain Wilfredo Cayabas Pasyalen, 45, a resident of Purok 23, San Carlos Heights, Baguio City was also nabbed in his residence for rape with no bail recommended and acts of lasciviousness with bail of P36,000.

In Apayao, a motorcycle mechanic identified as Roberto Cacot Tagui, 42, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Ballesteros, Cagayan was arrested at Barangay San Carlos, Sta. Marcela, Apayao for frustrated murder with a recommended bail of P 200,000.

A 17- year old minor arrested in Penarubia, Abra, was also charged for carnapping with bail set at P180,000.

Man shot in Apayao survives
STA. MARCELA, Apayao – A man was shot here by another he had a grudge with which he survived.

Police said the attempted homicide happened about 7:30 p.m. of August 24 here at Purok 4 Nueva.

Victim was identified as Dido Valencia, 59, while the suspect was Erwin Aquino, 38, both residents of the area.
     
Investigation disclosed the victim was on his way home when the suspect allegedly shot him using a Cal. 22 firearm hitting his right knee.

Police said motive was misunderstanding due to old grudge and land dispute.

Victim was brought to Sta Marcela District Hospital for treatment, while the suspect surrendered to Sta Marcela police.

Firearm used was not recovered.

Man finds Ipad stolen from car, being sold in cell shop
BAGUIO CITY – If you have lost items like stolen cellphones or laptops, visit cell phone shops here. You just might find what you are looking for.

Ralph David Casem, 30, of Purok 5 Amparo Heights, Camp 7 here told police his car was forcibly opened around 10 p.m.on August 23.
     
Investigation disclosed complainant parked his vehicle, a Susuki Jimmy (XFH 135) along Greenwater Village Road when unidentified persons destroyed the rear side window of his vehicle.

Casem discovered that his 3G i-phone worth P 25,000 and Apple Ipad2 valued at P27,000 inside the vehicle were missing.
            
The next morning, the complainant with his girlfriend passed by Mabini St, where Narikiyo Cellphone Shop was located and saw his missing Apple Ipad displayed in the glass cabinet prompting them to call police who arrested Crisel V. Policarpio, 26, owner of said establishment.
           
Policarpio was detained at city jail on order of inquest prosecutor Nimia Castillo-Peralta.

Kubrador arrested 
BAGUIO CITY A—Police arrested here at Barangay Hapopy Homes Melchor Edwin Palaci, 48, a jueteng kubrador (bet collector) , of DensiTawang, La Trinidad, Benguet for violation of Republic Act 9287 (illegal gambling law).
            
Confiscated from  from the suspect were cash bets amounting to P50.00, Meridien firm papers  with number combinations and a ballpen.

Palaci was incarcerated at the city jail on order of inquest prosecutor Arlene Valerie Camacho.

Estrada driver flees after bumping army truck
PARACELIS, Mountain Province – The driver of a Mitsubishi Estrada fled after his vehicle allegedly rammed a military truck here last week.

A police report said  the incident happened around 8 p.m. onAugust 23 along the national road in here Cabua-an, Butigue.
     
Investigation disclosed that the truck loaded with six army personnel was going towards Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, when the speeding private vehicle coming from the opposite direction suddenly bumped the truck.
The driver of the truck was identified as Cpl. Melvin Baloran, 28, 54th IB, PA based at Butigue while the driver of the Mitsubishi was Angel Foroble, 51, of Bananao, Paracelis.
           
No person was injured during the incident and the vehicles involved incurred damages.

After the incident, Foroble who was allegedly under the influence of liquor drove his vehicle and fled before police arrived.

Car falls down ravine; 3 young men wounded    
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Three young men, all residents of Barangay Balili here, were wounded when the vehicle they were riding in fell down a ravine at Sitio Payeo, Barangay Alno here around 12 noon on August 24.
     
Investigation disclosed the Mitsubisho Lancer was descending towards Alno when its brakes malfunctioned prompting the driver to swerve to the right side of the road but lost control of the steering wheel making the car fall down the ravine.

Victims were identified as: Amadeo Bangnan, 32, driver  who was in possession of student permit; Edmund Dul-og, 18 and Jess Dalmacio, 19.

Personnel of La Trinidad police and fire department brought the victims to Benguet General Hospital for treatment. 

Two persons arrested for illegal guns in Abra
BANGUED, Abra -- Two individuals were separately arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Abra last Monday.
           
Police said Jay-Jay TinezaTugadi, 22, of Barangay Budac, Tayum town was arrested by members of the AbraProvincial Public Safety Company along Sitio An-anaao, Budac.

Tugadi was arrested after being seen throwing a firearm described as Cal. .9mm with loaded with eight bullets.

Another individual was arrested along Torrijos St., Zone 5, Bangued, Abra identified as Richard Batawang, 27 of Calaba, Bangued.

Batawang was arrested after police after a report that he bumped a parked motorcycle and when he was frisked, a Cal. 45 handgun loaded with four bullets was confiscated from his direct possession.

Meanwhile, a Cal. 32 pistol was found by workers while demolishing a house inMagsaysay, Loakan Proper, Baguio City on August 23.

8 arrested for illegal drugs in Tabuk City
TABUK CITY, Kalinga –An alleged  drug pusher and seven others were arrested after a concerned citizen tipped police about a drug transaction that took place here at Balacang St, Barangay CasigayanMorning of Sept. 23..

Senior Supt. John Colinio,provincial police director  identified the arrested suspects, all residents of this city; Allan Diego Versoza aka Lanze, 35, welder, of Barangay Laya East; Reynante Carbone Padrigo, 28, duck raiser, of Dagupan West; Val Guidangen Trinidad, 39, chief security officer of Hacienda Construction and Trading and a resident of Poblacion West; Arnold Awingan, 26; Aldrico MortaPanis, 52, farmer of Dilag; Richard Aquino Aquino Diego, 42, driver; Orlando Lingayo Bakiadan, 43 both of Laya East and Jay GunabanSimafranca, 37,duck raiser and owner of the house where they were arrested..

Combine elements of Kalinga Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group, Intelligence Operatives and Tabuk police headed by Chief Insp. Bobby Glenn Ganipac in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested the suspects and confiscated shabu valued at P 828, a Cal. 45 handgun with six bullets; cash of P 2,880.00;  Samsung Galaxy and  Nokia C10 cell phones and bullets for  Cal. 9 mm and Cal. 22 including a motorcycle.
