14 wanted persons nabbed in Cordillera
CAMP
BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police recently arrested 14 wanted persons in
the Cordillera.
In
Abra, provincial police chief Senior Supt. Benjamin M. Lusad, said Herbert
Venavidiz Belong, 27, farmer of Barangay Collago, Lagayan town was arrested
by personnel of Abra Provincial
Intelligence Branch and Provincial Public Safety Company led by Supt. Virgilio
C. Pascua.
Belong
was nabbed in Bucloc town for violating the Commission on Elections gun ban. No
bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Five
accused persons were also nabbed in their residences, two of which were minors.
For
attempted murder, a minor and a 23- year old man identified as John
Monchaya Balajo, both residents of Upper Posnaan, Aguinaldo, Ifugao were
arrested while another minor who was an out of school youth and a resident of
Dalican, Kinakin, Banaue, Ifugao was arrested for carnapping
Bail
of P120, 000 and P34,000 respectively
were recommended while their cases were being tried.
Two
others, Merwin Limente Rosal, 21, pocket
miner, of Cervantes Road Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet and Drexelle Ola Llavado,
18, college student of Barangay Malabbaga, La Paz, Abra were also arrested for
robbery with violence and intimidation against person with bail set at P 100,
000 and for reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries respectively.
Two
farmers charged for homicide were also arrested at Barangay Kayapa, Proper
East, Nueva, Vizcaya.
They
were named as Jonathan Lipawen Colas, 29, of Bad-ayan, Baculongan Sur, Buguias,
Benguet and Abdul GumtengLipawen, 40, of Amgaleyguey, Buguias.
For
rape, a 50- year old carpenter identified as Romulo Pat Carvajal, of Bataria,
Ginolngan, Negros Oriental and presently residing at Bubon, Virac, Itogon,
Benguet was arrested in Bubon with no bail recommended.
Arrested
for illegal drugs with bail of P200, 000 was a 27- year old tricycle driver
identified as Mario Gaodia Guardario, of
Barangay Dangdangla, Bangued, Abra.
For
estafa, two persons were also arrested. They were identified as Agustina Aquino Paran, 53, who was arrested
at the Center Mall, Baguio City with no bail recommended while George M.
Ringor-Labiaga, 48, businesswomen, of
Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet was arrested inside City Hall, Baguio City with
bail fixed at P40,000.
For
Violation of Republic Act 9262 known as Violence against Women and Children
Law, two individuals were nabbed identified as Danny Francisco Geronimo, 29,
market vendor, presently residing at No.171 Dominican Ext., Baguio City
who arrested in his residence while
Marcelino Mendoza Abid Jr., 28, laborer of Balayan, Bagulin, La Union was
arrested at Kayang Street Baguio City with recommended bail bond of P20,000 and P80,000 respectively.
Man cornered in San Fernando buy-bust
SAN
FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- An alleged “drug personality” was arrested last week
by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency during a buy-bust operation
in this city.
PDEA
Director General Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspect as Kenneth Allen
Buccat, 24 of Barangay Ilocanos Norte, San Fernando City.
The
arrested suspect was reportedly a member of the MASO Drug Group.
A
PDEA report said at around 2 p.m. joint elements of PDEA Regional 1 under
director Adrian Alvariño, San Fernando Police Station, and La Union Provincial
Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group conducted a buy-bust operation
in Barangay Ilocanos Norte, San Fernando City wherein Buccat was arrested.
Confiscated
from the suspect were sachets containing shabu drug paraphernalia.
Cases
for illegal drugs were filed against Buccat.
7 men arrested for playing mahjong
BAGUIO
CITY – Seven men were nabbed in Sitio Agawa, Barangay Middle Quirino Hill for
playing mahjong at about 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Senior
Supt. Jesus Cambay, city police director identified the suspects as
Leenard Pomecha Bantog, 24; Vincent DaguiwenTalocoy, 45’ Delpin Depot Wallang,
60, all miners; Terio Alipiao Berto, 30; Salvador Andress Macao, 35, both
laborers; Rex Berto Calapiao, 30 and OdelonDidaoLus-o, 36, all
residents of Middle Quirino Hill.
Police
confiscated gambling paraphernalia and bets amounting to P900.
All
arrested suspects and confiscated items were brought to the concerned police
stations while appropriate cases were prepared for filing before the courts
against them.

DANGWA, La Trinidad Benguet - Four persons were arrested at checkpoints in
the region for transporting illegal lumber and charcoal on Sept. 29.
In Apayao
province, Luna town police station stopped a truck at Barangay Marag and
arrested two men on board for transporting illegally sawn narra lumber covered
with bamboo.
Senior
Supt. Alberlito Garcia, provincial police director, identified the suspects as
Bienvenido Caluya Verzola III, 39, driver,and his passenger Julio Aguinaldo, 43,
both residents of Barangay Poblacion.
In
Benguet, Itogon town police police nabbed two men at a checkpoint at
SitioPinanga, Barangay Tuding while
transporting 70 sacks of charcoal loaded in an Isuzu jeep.

Supt. Rodolfo Azurin, provincial police director confirmed the arrested persons
as Roy Sicasi Pingaping, 37 and Serafino Bayating Pias, 19, both residents of
Caliking, Atok, Benguet.
Man nabbed for selling shabu to PDEA

NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte – A top drug trafficker in IlocosNorte was arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement
Agency agents after he mistook an anti-narcotics agent for a buyer and sold
methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu.
Christian
Kevin Guieb, 30, from Barangay 5 here, reportedly Ilocos Norte’s number 4
target in its list was arrested Sept. 28 selling a heat-sealed transparent
plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance claimed to be shabu.
Authorities
also seized a P500 bill used as marked money; a blue Nokia cellphone; a black
wallet containing a driver’s license; P58 in various denominations and a blue
lighter.
Guieb
is now facing a violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11
(Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Article 2 of Republic Act 9165, or the
Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“Pusher’ facing court case for drugs in Ilocos Norte
SAN
NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte – Polic e and anti-narcotics against of the Philippine
Drug enforcement Agency conducted a buy-bust operation here last week at
Barangay 6, San Juan Bautista which led to the arrest of a suspected pusher
identified as Jill Tomas, 30, tricycle driver, of Barangay 6, San Juan
Bautista.
Confiscated
during the operation were two pieces of plastic sachets containing
methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, assorted pieces of drug
paraphernalia, one magazine loaded with six pieces of 380 caliber live
ammunition, and one P1,000-peso bill used as buy-bust money.
Tomas
will be facing charges for illegal drugs.
‘Carnapper’ collared inTabuk City
TABUK
CITY, Kalinga -- An alleged carnapper was nabbed here last week even as a
stolen motorcycle was confiscated from the suspect here at sitio Bacras,
Bulanao.
Senior
Supt. John Colinio, provincial police director identified the susupect as
Viernes Langngag Anggowos, 28, farmer here of Hilltop Agbannawag.
Godfrey
G. Sarol, owner of the vehicle, instigated the arrest with the assistance of
the Kalinga Provincial Public Safety Company after spotting his motorcycle
driven by the suspect.
The
motorcycle was missing since Sept. 20. A case for carnapping was filed against
Anggowos who was brought to the Bulanao Sub-Station, Bulanao with the
motorcycle.
Farmer nabbed for murder in Kalinga
TABUK
CITY, Kalinga -- Police arrested last week a 69 –year-old farmer for murder listed
as the “top most wanted person” in Kalinga.
Senior
Supt. John Colinio, provincial police chief identified the suspect as Scout
Manggok Pataclang, of Mabilong, Lubuagan town at present residing at SitioWaya,
Barangay Gobgob, Tabuk City.
Armed
with a court warrant, police seized his residence and confiscated an M16 rifle,
10 magazines and 262 bullets for the rifle.
Man arrested for firing rifle in Besao
BESAO,
Mountain Province --- A 52 –year-old man identified as Egyam Cawatig, of Sitio Katengan here was arrested for allegedly discharging his firearm in his
residence evening of Sept. 28.

Supt. William Viteño, provincial police director said police confiscated a Cal.
5.56 handgun from the suspect.
Bocap surrenders guns to Bangued police
BANGUED,
Abra -- Barangay chairman Francisco BersaminaBodonia, 62, here voluntarily
surrendered two rifle grenades, a hand grenade, and shotgun to Chief Insp.
Arvin B. Fabro, officer-in-charge of Bangued police here in Barangay Calot on
Sept. 27.
Cops said this was the barangay
official’s way of showing support to police in its campaign to stop
proliferation of guns.
Rescued Taiwanese receives assistance
LAOAG
CITY, Ilocos Norte — The Taiwanese fisherman found and rescued by the local
police last week in the vicinity of Detarem Island in Itbayat, Batanes
province, has received proper assistance and is now recovering, according to
Supt. Joel Cumlat.
Cumlat,
who is the deputy provincial director of Batanes provincial office, said last
Sept. 2, he received reports from local fishermen that a foreign vessel was
seen drifting at the shorelines in the vicinity of the West Philippine Sea.
“The
following day, I dispatched our police sea-borne patrol to verify the report.
As a result, our policemen found one Taiwanese fisherman identified as Tsai Po,
53, on board his fishing vessel,” he said.
At
7:51 a.m. on Sept. 4, the Taiwanese fisherman arrived in Basco, Batanes, with

Mayor’s kin falls in drug sting
TUGUEGARAO
CITY – A nephew of a town mayor in Isabela was arrested in an anti-narcotics
operation in the municipality of Cabagan, Cagayan on Sept. 27.
Elvin
Ray Masigan, 24, of Barangay Bagutari, Cabagan, was in the drug list, according
to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
“Masigan
is said to be a relative of Sta. Maria Mayor Gilbert Masigan,” Juvenal Azurin,
PDEA regional director, said.
Isabela
police director Senior Supt. Sotero Ramos said Masigan yielded two plastic
sachets believed to contain shabu, P5,000 mark money, and a cellphone. –

Ilocos LTO chief nabs fake traffic enforcer
SAN
FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- Criminal charges were filed against an alleged fake
traffic enforcer who was arrested by the head of the Land Transportation Office
(LTO) in the Ilocos region, whom the suspect tried to threaten with a gun early
this week.
Marino
Soriano Jr. was wearing an LTO uniform when he allegedly demanded money from a
group of jeepney operators in San Fernando, afternoon of Oct. 26, according to lawyer
Teofilo Guadiz III, director of the LTO-Region 1.
“He
even threatened to pull out a gun, which turned out to be fake,” Guadiz
said.
He
said Soriano was with a group of other fake enforcers, who managed to escape
upon sensing Guadiz’ arrival.
Guadiz
said the LTO office had received complaints against fake enforcers mulcting
jeepney drivers and operators in various terminal.
“They
had been at it for about six months already, based on the complaints,” Guadiz
said adding Soriano is reportedly a son of a retired LTO district head in
Tarlac.
Soriano
was charged with robbery and usurpation of authority.
