P’sinan PAG man nabbed for murder

CAMP FLORENDO, San Fernando City, La Union- Chief Supt. Ricardo C. Marquez, Region 1 police director, reported last week the arrest of a top wanted person,  member of the private armed group in barangay Dilan-Paurido, Urdaneta City.

The arrest of Giovanni Almonte came after joint operatives of Urdaneta and Pangasinan police raided the lair of the suspect, dubbed number eight in the municipal level of top most wanted persons of Asingan.

Almonte was arrested following warrant issued against him by judge Tita R Villarin of the regional trial court, Urdaneta City for murder with no bail recommended.

          

According to Marquez, Almonte was previously arrested by  Regional Intelligence Division led by Chief Insp. Mar Louise T. Bundoc, on March 6, 2013  in Barangay Toboy, Asingan, Pangasinan following arrest warrant issued by Elizabeth L Berdal, presiding judge of RTC, Branch 47, Urdaneta City for homicide with recommended bail amounting to P40.000.

According to Senior Supt. Sterling Blanco, chief of RID, the suspect  was also involved in illegal activities particularly illegal drugs in the province and was alleged gunman in the killing of brangay councilman Eddie Balbin of Sobol, Asingan on May 3, 2012 and MarloMamasig at Bayaoas, Urdaneta on Sept. 17, 2012.

Almonte is now detained at the Urdaneta City jail. -- Myds Supnad
