PNP-Mt Prov needs 80 more cops, CCTVs

BONTOC,
Mountain Province – An additional 80 cops are needed by the Philippine National
Police- Mountain Province to effect better peace and order in respective
communities, aside from CCTVs to be installed in strategic areas.
New provincial police director Supt Oliver Enmodias in a
press conference here with the Montanosa Press Club said additional and trained
investigators are needed for police work.
With the current 320 policemen spread out in the 10
municipalities and the Provincial headquarters, Enmodias said continuous police
services on patrol and investigation are especially needed in urban areas
of the province namely Bontoc, Paracelis, Sagada and Bauko. Remote
towns of Barlig, Natonin, Besao and Sadanga in that order show zero to very few
number of crimes police reports note.
From the recent January to February report this year,
the capital town of Bontoc rates highest in 75 crimes recorded,
followed by Paracelis with 36, Sagada with 28 and Bauko,14 and Tadian, 9.
Physical injuries top the crime list followed by theft and robbery. Three
cases of rape were noted in Tadian, three homicide in Paracelis and
murder of Christopher Balicag which recently happened February 15 at Bangaan,
Sagada.
In recent Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting
Feb. 15, Gov. Leonard Mayaen called on the Sagada community to help resolve the
crime and not only condemn following a resolution of condemnation of the
Balicag killing from the Sangguniang Bayan, and a condemnation-rally by
residents of northern Sagada.

Enmodias appealed to respective communities to support
police work on investigation and help effect peace and order in their respective
barangays and municipalities.
The PNP is willing to train Barangay Peace Action Team
(BPAT) members including volunteers following initiatives from
respective local government units, police Superintendent Dexter Ollaging of the
PNP-Mountain Province community relations unit said.
Enmodias also informed the media that four additional
personnel per municipal-PNP are up to be filled up to improve
documentation and information services using computer, social networks and
radio operations.
Meantime in same January to February report this year,
rape suspects Dallen Kegway, Daniel Cabay and James Cawalo were arrested by
Tadian police; and Sagada and Provincial police arrested suspect Ricky Dacmeg
of Acetylene Gang after having been served with warrant of arrest for robbery
from the Regional Trial Court of Imus, Cavite.
Two cases of violation of women and children rights
were noted in Sagada and Paracelis committed by wanted persons. Suspect David
Kollalong was arrested by Sagada police for violation of RA 9262 or the
law on anti violence against women and children, Mark Palinggit of Paracelis
for violation of RA 7610 or special protection of children against child abuse,
exploitation and discrimination Act. Suspect Alex Lampisa for lascivious conduct
was arrested by Bauko police and Gaston Bangao arrested by Natonin police
arrest for rape.
Tadian police also arrested suspects Severino Kiblasan
and Jaka Wangdali for highgrading and Oric Catolico of
Paracelis for adultery.
A hand grenade found by an anonymous person handed
this to barangay chairman Domingo Bissok of Bagnen Oriente who delivered this
to the Bauko Police. Also a bomb measuring 52 inches in length and 19 inches in
diameter was found along the river at sitio Nacagang,
Sabangan by the contractor of the Sabangan bridge and brought
to the Regional police for proper disposition.
