BANAUE, Ifugao -- “Honesty is the best
policy,” and this was ingrained in a grade seven student who returned a wallet
to its owner, a foreign tourist.
Justin Taynan, 11, a
student of Immaculate Conception School with his aunt turned over to the police
on June 18 a black leather containing an ATM card, foreign and Philippine currency, Senior Insp.
Orlando Bakisan, Banaue chief of police said.
The wallet contained a
total value of more than P45,000 owned by Angelique Decouture of Roquefort, Les
Pins, France.
Bakisan said on June
19, Decouture reported to police her
lost item.
She said she used her
bag as her pillow while travelling from Manila to Banaue on board Ohayami Trans bus.
She arrived in Banaue
at 7 a.m. and checked in at Sanafe Lodge where she found out that her wallet was lost.
Decouture thanked
Justin and his family for returning her lost wallet and gave P500 as a show of
gratitude.
