Five ‘illegal loggers’ jailed
CAMP
DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police arrested and jailed five alleged illegal
loggers and transporters in Baguio and Apayao confiscating P83,683 worth of
assorted lumbers on Sept. 3.
In Baguio City, Senior Supt. Rolando Miranda, city police director,
said Toribio Digma Baden, 62, native of
Tadian Mountain Province and resident of Purok 8 Kias here was arrested
for cutting pine trees.
His cohort who was named as Alfredo Pati evaded arrest.
A concerned citizen reported Baden and his buddy were cutting trees at
Purok 8 Kias morning of Sept. 3.
Police confiscated from Baden a hand saw, bolo and logs worth
P60,165.86.
In Luna, Apayao, personnel of Provincial Public Safety Company and
Environment and Natural Resources arrested log transporters in Barangay Lappa
at about 9:30 p.m. same day.
Senior Supt. Robert Gallardo, Apayao police director, identified
suspects as Erwin Ballesteros, 38, of Poblacion,
owner and driver of the vehicle and his helpers identified as Teddy Mark
Ifurong, Dennis Salvador and Butsy Ruega.
The team intercepted the 6-wheeler truck where the logs were
loaded. Confiscated was 1,679.88 board feet of tanguile valued at
P23,518.
All seized items are now under custody of concerned operating units
while a case for violation of Presidential Decree 705 known as Forestry Reform
Code of the Philippines was filed against the suspects.
“The creation of the anti-illegal logging task forces in all provinces
is not only a big boost to our regional anti-illegal logging efforts, but it is
also a strategic move on the part of our partner agencies to further protect
the remaining forest reserves of Cordillera,” said Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez,
Cordillera police director.
Nerez said police have been conducting regular anti-illegal logging
operations and checkpoints in the region to protect the environment.
Drug suspect taken in buy-bust
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet
-- Elements of the Municipal Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group
and police Intelligence personnel arrested an alleged drug trader here at Km 5,
Pico Road Tuesday evening.
Supt.
Rodolfo Azurin, Benguet police director named the suspect as Randy Bantasan Padadac,
42, a native of Kayan, Tadian, Mountain Province and resident of San Carlos Heights, Baguio City.
Confiscated
from him were shabu and buy-bust money
of P3,500.
Charges
for illegal drugs were filed against him.
Man cornered in Tabuk
home for shabu
TABUK CITY, Kalinga –
Police apprehended a man here Tuesday in his residence at Arellano St., Dagupan
West for illegal drugs.
Senior
Supt. Victor Wanchakan, Kalinga police director identified the suspect as
Rodante Auggas Carbonel.
Confiscated
from him were shabu, cash worth P1,040 and a Nokia cellphone. He is now facing
chages for illegal drugs.
Balut
vendor nabbed for gun while in Abra pub
BANGUED, Abra – A cop
collared a balut vendor here Monday night for possessing a shotgun loaded with
a bullet tucked on his waist while standing at the door of the Boracay Carmie
Jr. Restobar and Videoke Bar, in Consiliman, Zone 2.
Senior
Supt. Virgilio Laya, Abra Provincial Director, identified the gun carrier as
Ruben Bribon Frio, 23, resident of Patucannay, Bangued.
Frio
will be facing a case for violation of Republic Act 10591 known as
Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Bauko, bocap, Abra man
surrender guns
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet
-- Barangay chairman Leo Kalang of Mabaay, Bauko, Mountain Province here
surrendered a Cal. 38 pistol without ammunition to police last week while a
resident of Kiwas, Pulot, Lagayan, Abra, also gave to police a Cal.45
pistol with no bullets.
Chief
Supt. Isagani Nerez, regional police director, said “Our policemen are
optimistic and serious in their unrelenting campaign against illegal drugs and
illegal firearms and this will serve as a warning to all those who engage in
the illegal trade of illegal drugs and firearms.”
Lamut,
Ifugao police retrieve bomb in house
LAMUT, Ifugao – Police
retrieved a vintage bomb at the house of a certain MsCabonitalla here in
Poblacion East last week.
The
bomb was brought to a field in Barangay Nunhabatan for proper disposition.
Men
nabbed for murder, homicide
TINGLAYAN, Kalinga –
Police arrested a number of men in the Cordillera last week for murder and
homicide.
In
Tinglayan, Kalinga, police arrested Tony WayawayAbaggoy, 46, farmer, of
Barangay Dananao for murder following warrant against him issued by Judge
Marcelino K. Wacas of the Regional Trial Court Branch 25, in Tabuk City.
The
following were also arrested in their respective residences: Mark Anthony
Barbosa Beralde alias Yellow Boy, 30, a resident of Zamora St., Zone 5,
Bangued, Abra for Attempted Homicide as per warrant issued by Judge Rodrigo C.
Valdez of the MCTC of Pidigan, Abra by the personnel of the Bangued MPS
Wednesday morning with a recommended bail bond of P12,000.00; and Jephel Lee
Sayod Dacayan, 30, farmer, a resident of barangay Patad, Pilar, Abra for
Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide with a recommended bail of P30,000.00
Thursday by the members of the Pilar MPS by virtue of a Warrant issued by Judge
Jihan Palcon-Hacutina of the 3rd MCTC, Pilar, Abra.
Warrant
issued against man for carnapping, robbery
HUNGDUAN, Ifugao -- A
warrant for carnapping and highway robbery was served against inmate
HadjiePagallaNabayay, 31 of Barangay Maggok here who was detained at the Aurora
Provincial Jail, Baler, Aurora for a case of robbery hold-up and violation of
Republic Act 10591.
Bail
was set at P340,000.
Five
women nabbed for estafa
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet – Police nabbed five women in Baguio City and Benguet last
week.
Suspects
were identified as Myrna Pingkisan Pasigon, 35, of Atok, Benguet who was arrested in Km 6, Betag, La Trinidad,
Benguet, with a recommended bail of P80,000; Jeannalyn Cuison Moulic aka “Jen”,
39, of San Miguel, Calasiao, Pangasinan, who was arrested at Camp Allen, Baguio
City with a recommended bail of P200,000 and Catherine Imadhay, 42, of Cawat, Beckel, La Trinidad, who was arrested
along Pacdal Circle, Pacdal, Baguio City, all businesswomen.
Also
nabbed were Winifreda Baban Castillo, 53, of Bayabas, Pico, La Trinidad,
Benguet, who was arrested at Justice Hill Kesbeng, Poblacion, La Trinidad and
Manelyne Bomitivo Mejos aka “Mani”, 29, businesswoman, of Northern
Samar who was cornered at Maharlika
Bldg., Abanao St., Baguio City with a recommended bail of P50,000.
Five
detained for theft
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet -- Five persons were detained last week for theft in Baguio
and La Trinidad, Benguet.
Police
identified them as Jener Dapyawen Baliw-An, 24, laborer, native of Lubao,
Bauko, Mountain Province and a resident of Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet; Erlinda
Diaz Flores, 59, of Bayan Park, Aurora Hill, Baguio City, who was arrested at
SM Mall, Upper Session Road, Baguio City and Rey Anne Flores Nonog, 22, of
Bauang, La Union who was arrested along Abanao Street, Baguio City.
Two
17-year- old minors, one of them a member of the “Bahala na Gang” were also arrested for robbery.

nabbed for various crimes

Trinidad, Benguet -- A number of individuals were nabbed for various crimes in
the Cordillera last week.

Dag-o, 38, laborer, was arrested in his residence in Wadwad, Cudog, Lagawe, Ifugao for lasciviousness
with a recommended bail of P120,000; Fernando Lictao Soriano, 43, barber, of
Jacinto St. Malcolm Square, Baguio City and Marlon BugnayPacliwan, 20, farmer
of SitioAbucot, Eddet, Kabayan, Benguet, who were both arrested in their
respective residences for physical injuries.
Also
arrested were Freddie MalicdanLaoyan, 31, driver, of Purok 3, Irisan, Baguio
City for reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property with physical
injuries; Ronnie Bangit 39, and Elvis Balwog, 29, both farmers and Luis
Bayudang, 39, all residents of Aciga, Pinukpuk, Kalinga, for cattle rustling.
Others
were Marina Gad-oan Baniez, 40, farmer, of Madaymen, Kibungan, Benguet, for
bouncing checks and Ruby CayboenNasingao, 53, carpenter, of Ananong, Virac,
Itogon, Benguet for violence against women and children.

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – The Police
Regional Office Cordillera with National Police Commission, government agencies
and private sectors kicked-off ceremony of the 20th National
Crime Prevention Week with the theme “Krimen ay Labanan Karapatan ay Igalang sa
Mapayapang Pamayanan.”
Benguet
Gov. Nestor Fongwan was guest of honor and speaker who was represented by his executive assistant Paul
Bagano.
The
celebration was highlighted with the presence of Cordillera police led by
regional director Chief Supt. Isagani R. Nerez, Cordillera Napolcom head Pedro
T.Maganon, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, staff of the Angels Behind the
Shield and students from the University of Baguio.
Chief
Supt. Roberto Soriano, PRO-COR deputy police regional director for
administration, delivered welcome remarks.
Bagano
said one of Fongwan’s priorities, in coordination with the provincial police
office, was establishment of a police station in the boundaries of the Benguet
and Mankayan in Cervantes, Kabuyao and other parts of the province.
Three gun wielders arrested in Kalinga
TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Three men were nabbed in Kalinga last week for
illegal guns.
Pinikpuk
town police arrested two men on board a motorcycle after a short chase at a
checkpoint in Barangay Taga Aug. 23.
Senior
Supt. Victor K. Wanchakan, Kalinga police director identified suspects as
Ceasar Suminal Dayagon Jr., 28, of Tabuk City, Kalinga and his rider Rocky Daquiwag Balawan, 28, a CAFGU
member and resident of Taga, Pinukpuk.
Confiscated
from Dayagon were a Cal.38 r evolver with five bullets, including the
motorcycle they used.
Another
suspect was also arrested at the
Maseyphan Lodge and Bar at Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City, Kalinga Aug. 29 for carrying a 9mm pistol loaded with 15
bullets. Suspect was identified as Jerome Olyog Pullis, 26, a resident of the
Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
