Cops probe foul play in ‘suicide’ of OFW, ‘hanged’ jobless man

BAGUIO
CITY – Police are investigating whether foul play was involved in the death of
a former overseas foreign worker (OFW) who was found dead hanging in the
comfort room of the first floor of her residence here June 12 around 6 p.m. at
No. 306 Mercury Street, Upper Quezon Hill.
Police identified the victim as Angelie
Garcia Montemayor, 25, a certified public accountant (CPA). The incident was
reported to police around 6:10 p.m. that day by Frelyn Montemayor Victorio.
Cops found the victim hanging with a
scarf looped around her neck tied to grills of the CR window and monoblock plastic chair on the floor below
the cold and stiff body.
Police
found blood stains on her shirt on chest and stomach. Police led by Senior
Insp. Hiquiana and Dr.Sorra found cause of death was asphyxia.
Sorra said time of death was around six
hours earlier.
In
another incident, cops found the body of an unemployed man hanging inside his
room here at No. 91, Saguid Road, Purok 7, km 4, Asin Road June 9 around 7 a.m.
A police report said the incident was
reported by Arlene Dalusong Ontalan, 43, vendor, and resident of said place.
Investigation revealed the victim
identified as Dennis Tadina Magallanes, of Bacnotan, La Union, and tenant of
said place hanged himself using a bed sheet. Accordingly, the victim had been
quarrelling with his live-in partner and attempted suicide before but he was
pacified.
Police
brought the body to Baguio Memorial Chapel for autopsy.
