One dead, 9 hurt as vehicles fall down Ifugao, Besao cliffs

PNP officer, principal injured in MP incident 

ONE PERSON DIED while nine others were seriously injured when the vehicles they were riding in fell down ravines in Lamut, Ifugao and Besao, Mountain Province last week.
        In Lamut, six persons were injured while a young woman died when the van they were riding in fell down a ravine Monday around 6:30 p.m. along the national road. 
Police named the driver as Danilo Dela Cruz Doroni, 33, of Joan Trading, resident of Benito Soliven. Lone fatality was named as Maricel Sarate Tagueg, 27.
Investigation disclosed the driver and his six co-workers Tagueg, Jomar Gacayan Segundo, 20;
Junifer Binando,19; Alvin Latawan Infial, 23; Floramante Dela Cruz Dorani, 40; and Frederick Arizo Cipriano, 23, were aboard the vehicle, when Doroni overtook a motorcycle.
However when he tried to get back on lane the driver lost control of the steering wheel that caused the vehicle to bump a barb wire fence of Ifugao State University and then fell down a 10-meter deep ravine.
Police led by Senior Insp. Edgar L. Tapo and Lamut Emergency Response Team immediately responded and brought Tagueg with her co-workers to Panopdopan District Hospital, Lamut, Ifugao where she was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician while her co-workers sustained minor injuries.
In Besao, Mountain Province, four persons cheated death when they survived a vehicular accident here also Monday around 9:30 a.m. at Sitio Biyocan, Barangay Tamboan.
Police investigation disclosed a Wrangler type Renegade jeep (AHG 686) driven by Biteng Tanglod Dagiwa, 26, police officer, resident of Ankileng, Sagada came from the tourist town and was headed towards Tamboan.
While passing a curved portion of the road, the vehicle’s steering wheel locked and which caused it to fall 50 meters below the road.
As a result, the driver including three of the passengers identified as Arthur Steve Dagacan, principal of Tamboan National High School and  resident of Sagada; Catherine Tanglod Dagiw-a, 25, married, newly assigned teacher and resident of Ankileng, and Jerry Ebes Equino 34, of Bokod, Benguet were rushed by local officials to Besao District Hospital for medical treatment.
