Cordi police, stakeholders agree to up secu measures

BAGUIO
CITY – Officials of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera recently met security
managers and officers of hotels, malls, commercial establishments, banks and
schools in Baguio City and La Trinidad agreed to discuss public safety issues
and concerns.
Chief Supt. Rolando
Nana, Cordillera regional police director, said the meeting enhanced working relationship of the PNP and
private security sector, with security issues expected to crop up during the
Christmas season and the run-up to the 2019 midterm elections.
Nana said the purpose of
establishing a better collaboration between the PNP and the security personnel
of every institution in Baguio and Benguet and also to hear the sentiments from
the security workforce.
A memorandum from the
Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) which stated
that security guards, as force multipliers of the Philippine National Police,
should at all times be vigilant and visible while performing their duties, was
presented in the meeting.
The Commission on
Elections’ rules and regulations on the firearms ban, employment and availment
of services of private security personnel were also discussed.
In addition, the crime
situation update, operational activities and modus operandi of criminal gangs,
monitoring of identified criminal personalities and security assessments and
the prevailing cases committed in malls and commercial establishments were also
reported and tackled.
Nana said during open
forum that peace and order and the security of every citizen is a shared
responsibility between the police and the public.
He also appealed to
security managers to invest on fully functional security equipment.
