6 fall in Cordi drug busts; P885-K marijuana seized

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad Benguet -- Six persons were imprisoned for illegal drugs after being arrested in  buy-bust operations while P885,000 worth of marijuana bricks and plants were confiscated and destroyed in Kalinga and Benguet recently.

Combined operatives of police and Drug Enforcement personnel arrested Mark Airone Arevalo Joya, 26, of Lontoc, Timalan, Balsahan, Naic, Cavite at the national road in Purok 5, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga Feb. 6 for possession of illegal drugs.

Four marijuana bricks and three packs of marijuana valued at P484,680 were confiscated from the suspect.

On Feb. 5, C-J Gongob Baggas, 19, tricycle driver, of Aciga, Pinukpuk, Kalinga was apprehended Feb. 5 in front of the National Irrigation Agency office along the national road in Bulanao.

A sachet containing suspected shabu P1,000 cash, P1,500 boodle buy-bust money and a Huawei Gold cellphone were also confiscated from Baggas.

In another buy-bust operation, Aaron Joel Sapon Estrada a.k.a Aron and Angelo Gaspar were arrested at Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet Feb. 7 for illegal drugs.

Confiscated from them were six sachets of shabu, P1,000 buy-bust money and a cell phone.

Also in La Trinidad Jefferson Pacio Damilo, 28, driver was caught Feb. 5 at Poblacion, Buyagan for illegal drugs.

Confiscated from Damilo were alleged shabu, one Samsung cell phone, P1,000 cash and P3,000 buy-bust money.

In Kibungan, Benguet, police and PDEA personnel conducted marijuana eradication at Sitio Almasi, Tacadang on Feb. 6 where a total of P399,800 worth of fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed in five plantation sites.

Some 1,099 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted while 1,500 kilos of dried marijuana stalks were found on site.

In Baguio City, police arrested Henry De Vera, 51 of Barangay Kias also for illegal drugs.

He was apprehended at Barangay San Vicente on Feb. 3. Confiscated from him were two sachets allegedly containing shabu, P6,000 boodle money and cell phone.
