BANGUED, Abra -- Personnel of the Abra Police Provincial Office condemned the blatant killing of Police Master Sgt Frederick Fernandez Ybañez, on Jan. 28 in Villaviciosa town.
Col. Alfredo Dangani, provincial director, vowed to get to the bottom of the murder of Ybañez, who was assigned at the Villaviciosa Municipal Police Station.
“I extend the sincerest condolences of the whole Abra PPO team to the orphaned family and colleagues of PMSg Ybañez and we assure that the ends of justice will be served,” he said.
Dangani instructed the Provincial Investigation Detection Management Branch to closely coordinate with the investigation team of Villaviciosa police station to investigate the murder.
Investigation said Ybañez left the police station after his duty, proceeding to his rented room at the Mommy Chows Food House in Poblacion Villaviciosa, when one of the two unidentified assailants shot him in the nape and his body.
Ybañez was a former member of Cebu PPO and reassigned to Abra PPO on Oct. 11, 2017.
In his two years in Abra, he was said to have been well-loved by the Villaviciousa townsfolk, and he also had no record of any abuse.
“We could not yet disclose as early as now the real motive behind the killing of our comrade. There might be different possible motives but we don’t want to theorize or make impulsive judgments, rather, we will consider all these possibilities and capsulize the investigation based on evidence,” Dangani added.
