Tuguegarao City councilor gets Covid-19

TUGUEGARAO
CITY -- A councilor of this city reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct.
3, sparking apprehension and fear at city hall after the official attended
meetings before it was confirmed that he was infected with the deadly disease.
In a post on its Facebook page, the Cagayan Public Information Office said a majority of the city councilors have gone on quarantine after their colleagues was infected with the viral ailment.
The councilor was not identified, but was said to be 67 years old and a resident of Barangay Larion Alto.
He was tagged as CV 1799.
A report from the provincial government said the councilor could have violated important health protocols when he attended a meeting at city hall on Sept. 29, and another meeting convened by City Mayor Jefferson P. Soriano on Oct. 3 at a local hotel.
Based on the initial results of contact tracing, the councilor was infected by a former elected provincial official, tagged as patient CV 1696, living in Arugay Street, Barangay Caritan Centro.
Meanwhile, there were two new cases of Covid-19 that were reported in Tuguegarao on Oct. 3.
