CANDON CITY -- Ilocos Sur recorded a total of 78 cases of Covid-19, three of which were active, while 74 recovered from the disease to date.
The province recorded its first Covid-19 death on Oct. 31.
Gov. Ryan Luis Singson on Nov 2, said the deceased patient, referred to as IS-C77, was a 73-year-old male from Barangay Farola in Tagudin town.
IS-C77 was reportedly brought to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital-Tagudin due to cardiopulmonary arrest on Oct. 26, revived and stabilized.
He was later referred to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City, La Union for further assessment and management.
On his fourth day at the hospital he developed fever prompting his doctors to have his swab sample taken for reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, which later turned out positive.
IS-C77 was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m. on Oct. 30.
“Let us all do our part in protecting ourselves and continue to heal as one,” Singson said.
Meanwhile, the province also recorded another confirmed Covid-19 positive case on Oct. 31.
The patient, tagged IS-C78, was a 32-year-old female from Barangay Lubnac in Tagudin.
    She was asymptomatic and immunocompromised.
Meanwhile, the provincial government said two new cases were recorded in Narvacan town as of Oct.30
The first case was a 46-year-old from Barangay Dasay, who had travel history to Metro Manila, while the other new infection was a 24-year-old from Barangay Sulvec, who did not have travel history.
Both were asymptomatic, and are currently at a provincial isolation facility.
The local government of Narvacan imposed extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) in the community located along Sulvec Port Road as a result.
It also ordered the closure of roads from Bulanos Bridge to Narvacan Port.
