PROCor starts livelihood for 36 Benguet families

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Thirty six families of Tublay and Bokod were the beneficiaries of the Police Regional Office Cordillera's "Badang Kabuhayan Project," a program under the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 to promote sustainable livelihood for beneficiaries.
    Brig. Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan, Cordillera police director bared this saying the RMFB15 through the 1505th Maneuver Company - community affairs section crafted the program to ensure the families have steady source of living amidst the pandemic.
    At the height of the enhanced community quarantine where people's livelihoods were affected and movements restricted, police helped those badly affected like giving grocery items.
    With the amount collected from personal contributions of RMFB15 troops, a free range poultry farm was established at Barangay Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet which included a 45-ft long poultry house and a bungalow to house the carers. 
    After coordination with the Veterinary Medicine Department of Benguet State University, 400 Sasso chicks were brought and distributed to 15 selected families including out-of-school youth. Continuous monitoring is on to ensure the program’s sustainability.
    Meanwhile, in consonance with the 18-day campaign to end violence against women, the “Badang Kabuhayan II” was launched in Barangay Ekip, Bokod, Benguet.
    This was a joint project with TESDA-CAR which aimed to empower women’s group, organize and mobilize them to put up their own bakery shop.
    To equip them with knowledge and skills, 21 women participated in a training on bread and pastry making at Ekip Barangay Hall on Dec. 7 to 11.
    An oven set, gas tank and other baking materials were initially provided by the TESDA as start-up for the select beneficiaries.
    As part of their mandate in the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict, PROCor’s RMFB15 teamed up with other government agencies in programs in areas within the region susceptible to New People’s Army influence.
