BONTOC, Mountain Province -- Ten thousand doses of  Sinovac vaccines were received by the Provincial Health Office from the Dept. of Health  (DOH) last week for A4 and A5 priority groups.
The DOH categorizes A4 to cover frontline personnel including uniformed personnel and A5 covering indigent population.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Caroline Yawan said senior citizens in the  A2 priority group who refused to be vaccinated earlier shall still be attended to.
Only 41 percent among senior citizens in the Province were interested to get vaccinated.
Of the 10,000 doses, 3,000 doses to cover first and second doses were separately given for Sagada municipality while the rest of the 7,000 doses were distributed to the nine other towns of Mountain Province.
Earlier, Mayor James Pooten Jr asked Tourism Sec. Bernadette Puyat to facilitate availability of vaccines for Sagada in its preparation to open tourism.
Municipal medical technologist Geraldine Alangui said the 3000 doses were prioritized for 1,500 frontliners in the tourism sector -- tourist guides and innkeepers.
The 1,500 recipients of the Sinovac vaccines added up to an earlier vaccinated 2,000 persons in Sagada.
