BONTOC, Mountain Province—The Civil Service Commission
and provincial government led celebration of the month-long 121st Philippine
Civil Service anniversary themed:
"Transforming public service in the next decade: Honing agile and
future-ready servant-heroes" last Sept. 6 at the provincial plaza
here.
CSC Mt. Province director M. Locano urged government workers to stay healthy as they continue serving the people amidst challenges of the Covid9 pandemic.
The theme of the celebration, he said, implies the importance of adapting to the new normal and public servants should be agile in doing so. He explained that being agile means being able to work on different platforms and being flexible in working as public servants.
The future is uncertain that is why planning should be in place and the readiness to adopt to these plans is vital in delivering public service, he said.
Mountain Province State Polytechnic College President Rexton F. Chakas explained what it means to be an agile government employee.
He mentioned that in the agile process, employees receive the best support and are empowered to achieve their best in the performance of their functions; leader sets the direction and places trust upon his or her subordinates that not every simple issue reaches him or her.
Employees dissect the urgent matter and focus on what is yet to be done and on what delivers the greatest value, and the leader may give comments at any point in the process.
Among activities for the month-long celebration include learning session on the various tips for the plantitas and plantitos on Sept. 13, CSC-CAR regional HRM award rites and demonstration on meat processing on Sept. 14, public sector HR symposium (Sept. 15-17), question and answer session on mental wellness during pandemic (Sept. 20), online regional recognition program and appreciation program for frontliners (Sept. 27) and virtual agency official family day which will be celebrated last week of September.
Agencies were urged to create their own line-up of activities. (JDP/VLT with reports from PG-MP)
