Farmer hurt in high-speed gun battle with Tabuk cops; P1.2-M marijuana seized

TABUK CITY, Kalinga –
Police arrested a farmer following a high-speed vehicle chase and gun battle
here in Barangay Bulanao.
Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified the suspect as Victor Guimba, 36, listed as top 10 drug personality in the region.
Guimba was object of an arrest warrant issued by a judge for illegal drugs.
Cops seized P1.2 million worth of marijuana bricks after the chase on Sept. 7. Lee said police received information that a gray Toyota Fortuner from Metro Manila was in Tabuk City to fetch and get marijuana from the suspect.
When the said vehicle was spotted in Bakras, Bulanao, police went to check the occupants of the car and confirmed that one passenger was indeed Guimba.
The operatives served his warrant of arrest but they weren’t able to arrest him that time as the suspect pulled his gun and pointed it at one of the operatives, after which, he sped off his vehicle and drove towards Mapaoay, Ipil, Kalinga.
Operatives immediately chased the suspect and asked him to stop the vehicle, but instead the suspect fired at the operatives prompting them to fire back.
The suspect's vehicle plunged into the rice field at the side of the road, while Guimba sustained a gunshot wound on his left thigh.
The suspect was immediately rushed to Kalinga Provincial Hospital.
During the operation, police seized 10 dried marijuana bricks worth P1,200,000, Cal. 9mm Smith and Wesson with four bullets , two hand grenades, cash, cell phone bag with documents and the vehicle used by the suspect.
A minor who was with Guimba inside the car was rescued by the cops.
