Cops seize mineral ore in truck along Halsema

ATOK, Benguet -- Two persons are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 after they were arrested for transporting mineral ores here on March 7.
    Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified the arrested suspects as Mariel Poyoc Piglay, 34 of La Trinidad and Layson Jay Cabacaba Ligutan, 19 of Capoocan, Leyte.
    Atok police said they earlier received a request for police assistance from engineer Dino Sab-it of CENRO Buguias of the illegal transport.  Sab-it received information from a concerned citizen that a vehicle parked along km 21, Halsema Highway, Caliking, Atok, was loaded with suspected mineral ores.
    Police with the team from CENRO Buguias proceeded to the reported place and found 470 sacks of suspected mineral ores loaded in the vehicle.
    Police arrested the suspects for violation of section 53 (ore transport permit) of RA 7942.
    The arrested suspects and the seized pieces of evidence are now under the custody of Atok police.

2 held in Kalinga checkpoint with P1.2-M marijuana

TABUK CITY -- Two marijuana couriers were nabbed in a police checkpoint here Feb. 25.
Elements of Tabuk police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera, police Regional Intelligence Division and regional canine unit seized P1,213,920.00 worth of marijuana in a checkpoint here in Bulanao Centro.
    Suspects were identified as Limuel Legaspi Alarde, 21,  of San Vicente, Tuao, Cagayan, and Ralf King Gaffud Prado, 18, of Paranaque City.
    Ten marijuana bricks and dried marijuana weighing 10,161 grams were seized.
    The inventory of seized pieces was conducted at site witnessed by  suspects, Kagawad  Ricardo Agnaya of Bulanao Centro, Dept. of Justice representative Lailanie Balao-ing; and media representative, Melisa Guavez.
    The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.


13 nabbed in Baguio, Benguet for drugs 

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Thirteen persons were arrested in anti-illegal drugs operations from Feb. 20 to 26.
    According to the records of the Regional Operations Management Division, of 13 drug personalities arrested, 11 drug personalities were arrested in Benguet and while the other two were arrested in Baguio City.
    In Benguet, arrested were Oliver Ansibey, 33; Dindo Galang, 43; Cresilda Babon, 53; Alifie Abungan, 40; Marlon Manansala, 39; Winston Changilan, 49; Raymund Mina, 30; Jeffty Panduyos, 33; Hilson Wallay, 42; Monsour Artemio, 26 and Jerobel Abalos, 29.
    In Baguio, arrested were Arthur Hidalgo, 29; and Willyn Sendico, 32.
    A total of 12.97 grams of suspected shabu worth P88,196.00 was seized during operations.
    All arrested suspects are facing charges for violation of RA9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.


43 wanted persons nabbed in Cordillera

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Forty three wanted persons were arrested in Cordillera from Feb. 27 to March 5.
According to records of police Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, Baguio police recorded the highest number of arrests with 29 arrested individuals followed by Ifugao with five; Kalinga, 4; Benguet, 3; Abra and Apayao with one arrest each.
    Arrested were Manuel Pon-Elban for rape and Roy Lagman for child abuse, Arvin Burgos for carnapping and Ezekiel Rene Agbayani also for rape.
    Baldoy and Jimran Inway were arrested for violation of Republic Act 9262 or Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act and Francis Lammangan for violation of RA 7610.
    Milagros De Guzman was apprehended for malversation of public funds, Marabite Richmond and Jerome Bautista for lasciviousness, Kenneth Buan for theft, Grace Galves for violation of RA 10883, Noemi Dayote for estafa; and Marilyn Mateo for illegal recruitment.


Beautician held for drugs in La Trinidad

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- A beautician is now be facing charges for illegal drugs after he was arrested in a buy-bust operation here on March 8.
    Police named the suspect as Christian Valdez Flores a.k.a. “Mia,” 29 of Nueva Ecija.
    Flores was arrested after he sold to a cop a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.07 grams worth P476.
    Inventory of confiscated drugs was witnessed by the suspect, Kagawad Angel Decaleng of Barangay Betag and Prosecutor Andres Gondayao from the Dept. of Justice.
    The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of La Trinidad police. 

Ex-Pangasinan university exec hacked, found dead

INFANTA, Pangasinan — A former executive director of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) was found dead at the back  of her house in Sitio Sawang, Barangay Bamban in this town on Tuesday.
    The body of Naominada Olermo, 67, which bore hack wounds, was discovered by her neighbor, farm caretaker Juderick Manalo at around 5:30 p.m.
    In a post on Facebook, the PSU community mourned the death of Olermo, who served the university from 1987 to 2019.
    The university administration called on law enforcement agencies to speed up their investigation to immediately punish the perpetrators of the crime.

P500-K MJ intercepted in Bakun checkpoint

BAKUN, Benguet -- Two persons are  now be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were arrested here at a checkpoint for transporting marijuana. 
    According to a report submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee, Bakun police a team from the regional police canine unit seized P500,000 worth of dried marijuana from suspects.
    The suspects were identified as Merbyn Larawan Gravador, 45, of Calamba, Laguna, and Samuel Flor Christian Singson, 23, of Antipolo City.  
    Inventory of seized contraband was conducted at the site in the presence of the suspects and witnessed by Florencio B. Vicente, punong barangay Ampusongan here and media representative Joemar P Sacpa. 
    The suspects and seized marijuana are now under the custody of Bakun police.
