55 persons arrested for Cordillera crimes

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Police arrested 55 wanted persons in Cordillera March 13 to 19 for various crimes.Records of Police Regional Office Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) bared Baguio City Police Office recorded the highest number of arrests with 39 wanted persons arrested.
Next was Benguet PPO with six arrests, Ifugao, 4; Kalinga, 3; Abra, 2 and Mt. Province with one.
Of the 55 personalities, 14 were listed most wanted, one in provincial level, two, municipal; 1, city and 10 in station level.
For provincial level, Richard Visaya, listed no.1, was arrested for violation of Republic Act 9262 (Violence against women and children Act).
In municipal level, Melchor Lamang, listed no. 1, was arrested for rape while and Mark Masing, listed as no. 4 was arrested for lasciviousness. In city level, Russel Alindayo, listed no. 9 was arrested for violation of anti-carnapping Act of 1972.
For station level, Leomark Begas, listed no. 4 was arrested for violation of new anti-carnapping Act of 2016; Mayflor Daddy for estafa, Perlas salinas for illegal recruitment, Dixie Uy for illegal recruitment; Prisca Gines for estafa; Elizander Gerilla for theft; Rodrigo Gango III for robbery with violence, Jose Frades, for violation of RA 9262 and Miriam Calixto for estafa through falsification of public documents.
Four arrested in La Trinidad for crimes
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police of this capital town arrested suspects here last week for various crimes.A certain Jeffrey Dulay Medina, 29, of Caba, La Union and resident of Barangay Pico here was arrested March 17 for having in his possession a gram of shabu worth P1,100.
Police and drug agents conducted the buy-bust operation in the presence of Prosecutor Mark Maranes, and Barangay Kagawad Fernando Palitayab of Pico.
Confiscated also from the suspect was a cell phone.
Earlier on March 15 in Western Buyagan, Apollo D. Piluden, laborer and native of Bauko, Mountain Province was arrested for child abuse after Judge Marietta S. Brawner, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court here issued warrant against him setting bail of P80,000 for his temporary liberty.
A certain Cielo P. Tumayan, 28 of Barangay Bahong was also nabbed for violation of Republic Act 9262 (violation against women and children) after Brawner also issued warrant against her and setting bail of P72,000 for her temporary liberty.
She and live-in partner reportedly posted their pictures and their son on Facebook. prompting the legal wife to file a complaint against them.
Still in Bahong, Richard C. Visaya, 50, farmer was also nabbed March 14 for violation of RA 9262 with bail set at P72,000.
Visaya reportedly did not provide support to his former live-in partner and their child.
Mother, son killed in Cagayan fire
By Vince Jacob VisayaTUGUEGARAO CITY -- A 90-year-old woman and her 60-year-old son died after their house was gutted by fire in Centro Norte, Gattaran, Cagayan night of March 20, a fire protection officer said.
Fire Senior Insp. Modesto Macarubbo Jr., fire marshal of Gattaran, identified fatalities as Marcelina Bernardo and her son Roger.
Fire trucks from Lallo, Lasam and Camalaniugan helped Gattaran firefighters in putting out the fire, which was controlled after almost two hours.
Investigators said the mother and son had made it outside the house in time, but Marcelina went back inside to get the land title and other important documents in her room.
When she did not come out after a few minutes, Roger went inside the burning house to rescue his mother.
The woman's body was found on the second floor, while the son's remains were recovered inside the bathroom on the ground floor.
The house of their neighbor, Eleanor Ursua, was partially burned. She suffered minor burns.
Arson investigators are probing the cause of the fire and the amount of damage.
Woman nabbed for cyber estafa
The National Bureau of
Investigation (NBI) announced the arrest of one Shyna May Vergara in an
entrapment operation in La Union for cyber estafa.According to the complaint, Vergara promised a return on investment nearly double the capital every 22 days.
As many complainants had surfaced against her, the NBI set an entrapment operation and promptly arrested her when she received the marked money.
Vergara is facing charges for violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Sec. 6 of Republic Act 10175.
4 nabbed for cockfighting in Mankayan
MANKAYAN, Benguet -- Five men were arrested March 20 for illegal cockfighting, (locally called Tupad in Barangay Paco.Reports reaching the Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified suspects as Arnecio Aplota Balian Sr., 66; Arturo Lopez Gayongan, 68; Myrick Capuyan Sungayab, 42; Leander Degyem Bukang, 59 and Jomar Neri Perez, 35.
A concerned citizen earlier called police about the activity.
Police seized two fighting cocks and two empty rooster boxes from the suspects who are now facing charges for illegal gambling.
Miner held for illegal drugs,gun, bullets
BAGUIO CITY -- A miner
is facing charges for illegal drugs, guns and bullets after he was arrested in
a buy-bust operation here on March 20.
Police identified the suspect as Marvin Arsenio Aluyen, 33 of Happy Hollow.
Aluyen was arrested by joint operatives of Regional PNP Drug Enforcement Unit and city police after he sold suspected shabu weighing around 2 grams worth P13,600 to a lawman.
A 9mm pistol and a magazine with three bullets were also seized from him.
Inventory of confiscated items was done on site witnessed by Prosecutor Don Immanuel Vergara and Barangay Kagawad Renato Flores of Outlook Drive.

P21.5-M marijuana seized in Tinglayan, Kibungan
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police seized marijuana worth around P21.5 million last week in Cordillera.In Tinglayan, Kalinga, P20 million worth of marijuana was found and burned in Barangay Loccong in operations by cops and narcotics agents March 15-17.
In Kibungan, Benguet P60,000 worth of marijuana was also uprooted and burned March 21.
In Barangay Poblacion, lawmen found 650 fully grown marijuana plants worth P 130,000.
In Barangay Tacadang, 300 fully grown marijuana worth P60,000 were burned.
