Tupad benefits 20-K plus Mt Province folks

    BONTOC, Mountain Province -- A total of 21,772 worker-beneficiaries from the ten towns of the province received payment for their 15-day work under the TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) program of the Dept. of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through the office of the Provincial local government under the offices of Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan and Rep. Maximo Dalog Jr.
    Distribution of Tupad money benefitted 17,957 workers from the P100,198,155 million transmitted by DOLE to the provincial government and P19,587,750 million transmitted to the Office of the Congressman benefitting 3,815 workers with partial amount from Senate bet Rep. Joel Villanueva having benefited 419 workers.
    The provincial government reached out to 17,957 beneficiary workers  in 10 towns of the Province with Bontoc having 1,567 beneficiaries; Barlig 600; Paracelis with 2,559; Natonin with 1,193; Sadanga with 953; Bauko with 5,433; Besao with 887; Sabangan with 1,364; Sagada with 1,213; and Tadian with 2,182 beneficiaries.  
    A flagship program of DOLE, Tupad is a community-based package of assistance to workers affected by calamities such as the Covid pandemic that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days.
    Labor Sec. Silvestre Bello III recently led officials of the labor department in distributing over P100 million in assistance to more than 5,000 workers in the province.
    In Paracelis town, some 4,857 beneficiaries received P54,998,500. Natonin’s 318 beneficiaries received P1,800,198 while Barlic, which had 258 beneficiaries received P1,460,538.
    Bontoc was given P492,507 ‘s for its 87 beneficiaries and Tadian received P549,300 for its 97 beneficiaries.
    In Sabangan, DOLE recorded Tupad payout of P46,709,991 for 4,281 beneficiaries.
    Tupad has social community projects such as repair, maintenance, and/or improvement of common public facilities and infrastructure such as schools and health centers, debris clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling and clearing; and agro-forestry community projects, such as tree planting, seedling preparation, and reforestation
    Also, TUPAD is worked out in economic community projects like repair, maintenance and/or rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads, bridges, post-harvest facilities, public markets and common service facilities such as production and display centers and fishports.
    The payment of wages of Tupad beneficiaries are coursed through a money remittance service provider to ensure standard application across all regions in terms of mechanics and service fee costs.
    In cases where an accredited co-partner Is involved in implementation, the ACP (including LGUs) shall facilitate the payment of wages of Tupad beneficiaries using a prescribed payroll, with representatives from DOLE RO/PO/FO as witnesses.
