83 year-old man dies in Nueva Ecija blaze

SANTA ROSA, Nueva Ecija – An 83-year-old man died when fire struck his residence here on June 24, authorities said.
    Police said Marianito Taluzan was inside his house in Barangay Zamora when the fire broke out at around 8:30 p.m.
    Taluzan reportedly failed to move out of the burning house due to his physical condition.
    His wife and two other members of the household, however, managed to run to safety and were unhurt, investigators said.
    Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the conflagration.

 

 Man found dead along Ilocos shore

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte—Authorities found Monday the body of an unidentified man here last week along the shoreline of Pancian village.
    Investigators said they received a phone call from a concerned citizen who informed them that a body was found on the shore near a construction site in Sitio Banquero.
    Investigation showed the dead man was wearing a blue shirt and jacket and gray jogging pants.
    Authorities said he had no identification card with him.
    Police said they were still determining the cause of the man’s death, noting that he suffered a head injury.
